Hello

Welcome, Skylark. There are a bunch of us on here just at 1-7 days quit. That's a good sign! Let's all make it through together. I quit tomorrow.

Great going, Stubz! Sounds like you're still chugging along. Great story about getting torqued off at your boss. I laughed at that one. I'm happy to see you're still going strong and keeping a good attitude. Might consider getting rid of the pack you are holding on to. I understand the psychology of it but at some point you might want to get rid of that thing. Maybe empty it out and keep the empty box as a reminder. Day 1 has passed

I just quit yesterday, too. Coming up on 24 hours right now. I'm doing pretty well so far. Cravings have been fairly weak. I know the nicodemon will kick things up the next few weeks but I am going to starve him out. Stay on the road, Chris. Just keep slogging forward and eventually we're going to find ourselves out of the mud and into blue skies - slowly over a long time. Day one -

Niks, each time you say no to the nicodemon you grow stronger and he grows weaker. Turn away and get angry at that addiction. Each time will get easier. By the way, traveling is a trigger for me as well and is the cause of previous slips. These were slips after not smoking for literally years so maybe, as someone here said once, it wasnt' so much a slip as a decision to smoke again (in my case). I don't know why it happens but it is like a feeling of freedom when I travel and I think I may want it to be "complete" - like as in no restrictions. I don't know but I need to figure that out for myself as well because traveling has been the trigger that has ended many quits for me. Going for it

Good morning everyone, I am doing ok. No smokes yesterday at normal trigger points in the evening. It helped to think of all you others on here who are at day 1, 2, 3 (I'll make it if you make it) and all the others who are out there a number of weeks or months. We need to stay together and stay on the road! Intro

Great decision to quit! I have to say I love your screen name. Makes me laugh. Let's ride this through. I know on the "other side" we'll feel better than we ever could smoking. Just have to wait for our brain and body chemistry to level itself back out again. That's the light at the end of the tunnel. The QM

Going for it

Hi, everyone. I threw away my cigarettes a few hours ago ( for about the 100th time). I look forward to quitting with you all. I am... The QuitMeister

Day one -

Good job coming back, Niks. Cigarettes suck don't they? It's crazy how easy it is for them to get you back. Like someone says on here - not one puff - ever. Stay strong and keep posting. The QuitMeister

On Day 2 - support and encouragement most welcome

In addition to probably hundreds of "I quit's" and throwing away perfectly good packs of cigarettes I have had some long quits too (literally years) and I, too, made a DECISION to have JUST ONE. Please do me a favor and don't forget this fact (because I have failed to learn it a bunch of times) - there isn't ever just one. The QM

Going for it

Thanks, everybody! I'm already feeling sort of crappy this afternoon and the addiction was whispering about getting some smokes later today. Your supportive words were very helpful. I will keep coming on here and reading and writing and put this stuff behind me (eventually). So - Sharon, Marie, Ex-slave, ParrotLady and Deli - thanks again for so quickly responding and for your kind and insightful advice. I'll be checking in again soon. The QuitMeister
