New to Group 5 days down or is it up?

I have been a smoker for around 20 years and this is my second attempt to quit. The first attempt I used zyban, and I was a complete and total nut case deluxe. This time just going cold turkey. I am on my fifth day of living, and the hardest part of the whole quitting process is the depression. The second hardest part to me is talking and thinking. The bad thing about those withdraws, is I make a living by talking. Some parts out of the day I am fine then other parts a complete and total mess. It has been getting better though (I think or maybe I don't think) Truthfully I just keep telling myself its better. Whatever works. Hey glad to be here, getting tired of the typing sound from when I type got to go. LOL Just kidding Douglas

Serenity, I do know what you mean. Im only on day six and I get real gittery, shakey, agitated, angry and all those fealings. The first two days of my quit I didnt hardly speak at all, the third day I had to speak because I am a minister (whole new story). You can breath, you can stomp, you can cuss but basicly you just got to ride it out. The only reason I dont start back up is I feal like im in to deep. I know I have to quit for several reasons but if I start back up, I will want to quit again some day and I only want to go through this HELL once. Good luck, Douglas

Dream Dream Dream

Vampires and zombies was on last night in dream world. Could the quit get any better.. LOL May just take a nap this afternoon to see what else I can dream about. I like the tag at the end of your post gonnadoit! about the kids. I think my kids have sort of learned when its a bad day for their old dad, (every day) One of my boys tell me Im his hero, he is a teenager and of corse being sarcastic but they have been real supportive. They think if I quit that means I can spend the extra money on them. They obviously are living in the same fog I am. Ha Ha! 7th Day

You know besides the occasional shakes and jitters and living in a constant fog most of the day. Oh and not to forget the oh such agitation when I hear loud noises and say shut up, shut up, shut up, in my head about ten times. And the pounding of my heart trying to explode out of my chest. Seven days down not to bad. Douglas

Dream Dream Dream

You know I used to hardly ever dream and when I did it would be a screaming nightmare that my wife would wake me up. Since I stopped smoking 7 days ago thank you very much, every time I go to sleep I dream. When I first go to bed I dream. When I wake up 2 hours later I dream. When I go back to sleep I dream. Anyone else do this or has all the years of smoking kept me from tuning into my inner-self.(lol)

How do I deal with it when I'm angry WITH somebody?

Serenity, Go ahead and stab him! If it makes you feal better. Just kidding. I do know what you mean though, anger is the worst trigger of them all. You feal like since Im angry that gives me a reason to smoke, but you would just feal like crap if you did.

Dream Dream Dream

They are pretty vivid. Im just glad they arent nightmares because that is what I would usually dream. Its weird every time I sleep now I dream. They arent happy skipping through the lilly dreams. I guess you would say they are like a dark drama of some sorts. Some say they dream they are smoking but I havent done that. I wonder what causes this. Strange.. What about you Josie.. Dream or no deram? Douglas

No patch no nothing just put them down and jumped into it. So how is that working with both of you quitting at the same time? My wife and I set a quit date for Oct. 1st but I went ahead and quit before then. Just couldnt wait. It actully scared me thinking about haveing to quit. Oh yea, I loved your post about searching your sons room. I rolled told my wife about it and rolled some more. No offence. lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 158 Amount Saved: $45.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 29 Seconds: 48
