Which day has been the hardest so far?

I still want to smoke. However when I logged on today I realized I didn't want to smoke as much. It's significantly easier for me at my TWO WEEK mark (yea!). I'm mostly dealing with the emotional stuff that I helped dull by smoking. Is that possible? Anxiety and saddness primarily... Stopping smoking is motivating me to make other changes now too. The most important being the need to re-do my thinking. Now that I can't feel shame about smoking I find myself berating myself for other things. ACK! My favorite side effect so far has been my boobs got significantly bigger. Wierd! I thought I was pregnant. Anyway, I expect there will be other hard days, but until day 10 or so I didn't feel any craving improvement. Let's all keep it up! Love, Sierra C.A.R.E. Day two is AWFUL!!!

Hi bump... Congradulations on your second day. I just know that if I'd bought a pack today, I'd have smoked them. I almost stopped a million times. I am having a very hard day. I feel weak, and full of doubt. The "voices" in my head are very convincing about how I could manage to buy some, smoke a couple... or pack THEN quit. I already feel more anxious, overweight, and, well... anxious. Ack! WHERE IS MY RATIONAL MIND?!

THE ROPE CHAIN

Hi guys, How's it going for everyone? I still haven't slipped and I'm still craving all the time. I had a major challenge last night when I started argueing with my husband. I realized how much I relied on cigarettes as a retaliation tool and a tension manager. As if smoking would "get back" at him since he doesn't like it. Perhaps I could find something like playing opera instead...(hee hee). No seriously, I need to work on my anger management and communication skills. THANKS FOR THE WELCOME!!!! Whew! See we're even cooler than those damn smokers. Maybe people who never smoked are cool, but at least we have the opportunity to fight something really powerful and show our strength. Right? Day two is AWFUL!!!

Thanks Brittinus.... I am definately out of my denial when it comes to my addiction. I have lied to my doctor and everyone else who asked if I smoked. My thought was "I don't REALLY smoke". I just called one friend who said it was easier to quit drinking than smoking for him (he's not alcoholic, but he had come to rely on it socially). He said for 7 years he wanted one (ACK!! Oh NO!!!) but now he doesn't. So I guess there is a lot of support. Including you. Thanks. I want to not rely on this anymore. I want to be free of it. (Then every thirty seconds or so I don't..) But I do.... really. Ok. Back to laundry. sierra My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21 Amount Saved: $3.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 2 Seconds: 57

Day two is AWFUL!!!

Thanks... Though I feel kinda guilty about it, I decided that stopping smoking is important enough to put aside my non-emergency obligations. Everything I accomplish today in addition to not smoking will be the icing on the cake. I'm going to work out though, since that might help with the depression stuff, and MAYBE something else too. It's hard to explain that to my husband, who didn't know I was really smoking. I hope I can communicate how hard this is for me and that he can support me without making lots of judgements. (Oh, and I'm drinking water. See, TWO things in addition to not smoking today.) :) sierra My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20 Amount Saved: $3.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 53 Seconds: 29

Day two is AWFUL!!!

Hi guys, I woke up this morning and started the bargaining process... (ie "I could buys some, smoke a couple and then throw them out.. I don't really smoke THAT much...blah blah blah"). ACK!!! I'm also feeling kinda sad and really anxious. I'm not working today, my husband is in another state and I just think if I leave the house I'm going to buy some. I have so much to do, but I'm also having a hard time concentrating. I wish someone would lock me in a cage because my will power seems so feeble. How do you guys do it?!!! -Sierra My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20 Amount Saved: $3.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 51 Seconds: 29

A Dear Smoke Letter

Thanks for sharing that awesome letter. I think I'm still in the recent break up part. Mourning my relationship, though I know it was unhealthy. Reading that reminded me of some guys I gave my love and time to who turned out to cost me an emotional fortune. It did get me to the point of seeing how I invited these meanies (nicodemon included) into my world. I haven't gotten to the anger yet... just feeling foggy, anxious, and lonely. Anger would be great. I do feel resentment about all the lies Mr. Nicodemon told me though. How he would help me relax, make me feel cool, give me time to myself, make me part of the group...etc. Damn liars. Thanks also, the rest of you for sharing some of your benefits. I have to remember that this will get easier over time. (And NO "calling" my ex when the chips are down. Clean breaks only). Sincerely, Sierra My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20 Amount Saved: $3.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 52 Seconds: 17

THE ROPE CHAIN

Hello All, I am an April quitter too, and I could REALLY use some support. Part of the reason I smoked was to be part of a group. I know that sounds stupid, but lots of people in my line of work are smokers and it made me feel included. Could you handle another memeber? Sincrely, Sierra :quest: My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20 Amount Saved: $3.6 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 52 Seconds: 50
