I'm Change

Hi Gumphfy! I would say i was more emotional in the beginning and it felt like people were messing with me because i had quit smoking. You really need to give yourself time to heal and recover. The first 2 weeks were hardest for me. Now i'm at 3 months and it's so refreshing to be ok with it. Take care of yourself first and foremost and definatly reward yourself. Now that i think about it smoking really didn't help me handle stress better, i actually think i would get more fired up when i was smoking. Some smokers think that smoking helps them relax but i think it's really only a distraction. You will be that down to earth guy again it is just going to take some time for you to recover from withdrawals. It is still very early, pat yourself on the back for a job well done and give it some more time cause it will get easier!! Hang in there! Dreams....

Ok i know i've been stressed out latley but boy i have been having some dreams about smoking! In some dreams i resist the urge and in others i just can't. In reality i've done really great and have not slipped once but i do say to myself alot "I cannot believe i haven't smoked a cigarrette"! If anything i proved to myself that i am a lot stronger that i thought. I wish i could make these dreams go away though. The stange part is i just started having these dreams and i'm 3 months into my quit. Anyone else having these kind of dreams? Member of the Jan. Typical reformed smoker!!

Had to share this with with all of you. The other nite my husband called me "A typical reformed smoker" Of course he still smokes and he only smokes in one room of the house(his office. I'm always spraying febreeze around his office door cause the smoke seeps out from under the door...well excuuuuussssseeeeee me smokey the bear!!! Apparently he doesn't like me showing discust over the stench!! What am i supposed to say..."Oh honey i love that smell"!!! Even when i did smoke i tried to be considerate of those who didn't smoke and understood that i stunk too and was actually embarrassed of it at times. So you know what i say to all those smokers that have a problem with us wanting to smell clean air...YES I AM A TYPICAL REFORMED SMOKER AND I'M DAMN PROUD OF MYSELF TOO!!!!So they can stick that in their pipes & smoke it!! Can i get an AMEN anyone?? Not smoking, now what?

OK i know what you mean about going crazy..i felt the same way. It was hard for me for about 2 weeks in to my quit until i got used to it. I've never been a fan of reading books but i figured it would be good brain exersize so i started reading or doing wordfinds and deep breathing whenever a craving hit. It all worked for me and i'm still reading and actually enjoy it. I'm able to sit & watch tv now without constantly thinking of a cigarette. Give yourself some time, the day will come when you put the kids to bed and you'll be ok. Stay busy and keep working at it!! I need som help...somebody yell at me!

Ok somewhere along the line your are actually giving yourself permission to go buy cigaretts. Your probably having those "Junkie thoughts" that most of us have when we quit but then your letting those thoughts take over. I know what your going thru cause i've had those "just one won't hurt" thoughts or the thoughts where i try to justify having one by telling myself that "i'm so stressed out i NEED IT SO BAD" YOU DON'T NEED IT....I promise you!! You can & will get through stress without cigarettes. I have done it myself, does it suck sometimes? Well yeah of course it does but it is possible to do it. Make a commitment to yourself cause you are worth it and you can do it no matter what is going on in your life. Dust yourself off and start over and come here for help whenever you want to smoke. C'mon don't give up!!! Typical reformed smoker!!

Hey RedRosie! Glad to see your hanging in there, i was wondering about you. I'm not sure about hubby quitting. I honestly don't think he's ready. I suggested this site to him and he said thats a female thing, even though i told him men were on here too. I just leave the issue alone which is best otherwise he'll rebel. Well we have day 70 coming up soon...horray for us!!! Typical reformed smoker!!

Golferman are you married? Me tolerating my hubby smoking in one room of my house doesn't mean i'm silently encouraging him to smoke, the addiction is encouraging him to smoke. He has to be ready to quit. The more i complain the worse it'll be. I'm hoping if i'm patient and just sit back and wait he'll come around on his own. Say what you want but NO MAN WANTS TO BE TOLD WHAT TO DO BY HIS WIFE. Typical reformed smoker!!

Hhahaha... an ultimatum is an ultimatum not "marital expectatations"! It think "marital expectatations" come in the beginning of the marriage not years into it.
