Thankful to Any Help I can get

You are in a good place to get yourself some help. Depression absolutely exists for so so many people. You wrote that your feelings of depression started two years ago. Did anything happen at that time in your life that may have contributed to your feelings? I hope that you find help here. There isn't a lot of activity on these forums, but there are a few of us who log in regularly to post and to support each other. Keep checking in, read through the lessons, and don't be afraid to start new conversations. Writing about what I'm feeling has been a big help to me. Hugs, Super Girl

Introduction

Hi, there. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. This is a good place to start to get help. Read through the lessons and post in the forums when you can. I have found it helpful to write about what I am feeling. You are not alone. Even if you choose not to be around others physically, you are not alone. You can always come here and read what others have written and start new conversations on a forum. Others will read what you write, and even if they aren't ready to respond themselves, they will understand how you feel and they will hope that things will improve for you. I am sorry to hear that you lost a close friend. Losing someone important in your life is hard. I lost two dear family members when I was a child, and it still hits me sometimes like it just happened. I hope that you will begin to heal from this loss and from the loss of your significant other. Remember that you can be alone without being lonely. The first step is to learn to love yourself for who you are. Hang in there and please keep us posted about how you are doing. Super Girl

Supplements?

Thanks so much for your response. I have read about magnesium too, and after clearing it with my dr I may see if it helps me. Super Girl

Tension

I wish I could ask him to read about depression. I feel as though his concern is mainly how it affects his life. I wish it was different, but I just don't think I can get him to understand. It's different when you talk with your girl friends...the women I know well seem to understand where I'm coming from better. He and I are so compatible in so many ways because we are complete opposites, but there are times when this also causes big problems. Thanks for your support. Super Girl

Toxic People

I read this list and feel sorry for all of these types of people. I wonder what happened to each one of them to prompt their behavior. I am the one to feel just as sad for the toxic person as I do for their "victims." Everyone is hurting somehow and we all show it in different ways. Super Girl

Alcohol

Well, I've decided that I need to stop drinking. It has started to become a problem for me. I have been here before and I have been able to take breaks from drinking before. But I always come back to it. I even stopped for a full year one time. I know that this is best for my health - both physically and mentally - and I really hope that I can stop for good this time. I removed all of the alcohol from my house. Poured it down the sink and recycled the bottles. It's been three days. Wish me luck, everyone! Super Girl

Thought Records

I have a question about thought records.  I understand how to do them, and I want to work on completing these each day.  My problem is that I feel like this is something I want to do privately and I am just never, ever alone.  It is very rare that I have "down time" or time to myself and when I do, I'm scrambling to take advantage of the time by working on my dissertation.  I don't want to be writing about events that make me stressed or angry or spark negative thoughts while I'm with my kids and my husband. (A lot of the time the "events" have to do with them, so I don't want them to see or read what I'm writing.  I worry about hurting their feelings and about their reactions to how I'm working through my depression.)  But if I don't do it immediately, I will forget how I feel and if my mood improves later in the day I will just brush off what happened earlier to make me upset.  So, this is more of a logistics question about how people physically manage to complete the thought records.  Does anyone have suggestions for how I can fit this activity in each day?

Thanks,
Super Girl
