Failed! Starting over..

Don't know why, day 5 is always very difficult to get through, I lost the last quit on day 5.
Had an awful day yesterday.
I was really depressed and very very uncomfortable.
I didn't smoke, but constantly ate, it was awful.
Thankfully it is over now.
..today is a different day, and I am back under control.

Jodee, I still can't make that huge step and say NOPE, I am focusing on today, this moment only.
Just a few hours ago, my friend (who quit years ago) was telling me to get rid of all cigarettes..
I still keep a pack in my drawer, at home and in the office, I feel like I will have a panic-attack if I don't have them.
I couldnt even set a quit date not to feel pressured, just gave it a go on 4th and when I slipped I started over on 11th. Both times, I decided in the morning.
I will throw them away when I am ready, and hope I find the strength to do it soon.

hell week is over!

I made it!
10 days ago, I wouldn't think it is possible, but I am smoke free for 8 days!
Everyday I become more confident, not just in the quit.

I bought myself a treadmill yesterday, this is my first official reward!
Every day I am spoiling myself with something small like a bubble bath or a nice movie.

The most happy ones about the quit are my dogs
We spend long hours outdoors, walking by the beach or playing in the park.
They don't let me feel depressed ever, they are the biggest help, they make me smile first thing in the morning.

Can't wait for the next milestone now!

Failed! Starting over..

Glad to hear I am not alone..
My friend insists this is the best way, and I insist on there is different ways for each person, whatever works to stay quit.
I am 8 days smoke free today (yay), so it does work for me.

Aloha, I don't have children but I know what you mean. It is easy to distract yourself when you know it will be over soon. This morning I had to look for a parking spot for half an hour and I started holding a straw in my hand as if it was a cigarette, sounds stupid but it helped.

Penitent, that is exactly what I am doing, not smoking just today, and tomorrow I'll do the same thing.

I can't get through another hell week, and I now know it takes years to come up with the courage to quit again, if ever, so I'd better make this quit the last!

Back for the Gazilionth and LAST Time

Hey Peteg,
Nice to see another March quitter, at last!
I was feeling so alone here, no offence old timers:)
As much as I appreciate hearing all your experiences, I need to hear from people who is going through the same thing. :)

Welcome on board Peteg!

Having a bad day!

Please someone tell me it will be over soon, I haven't been this negative for a long time.
I can't focus on work, I can't clear my head, all I want to do is crawl somewhere and sleep, for days.
I go to bed early, but still it is hard to wake up.
Everyone around is pushing my buttons, they have a special talent to irritate me.
The smokers are the worst, driving me crazy saying I can't quit, this is not the right way, the right way is this and that, but yet, they are still smoking!
Someone told me if I am counting the days, I am not quit yet! What does it mean for God's sake?
These people can't be for real, right?

Sorry for the rant..
On a positivie note, I don't want to smoke.

1st attempt in 4 years...

Hi Dunedad,
Welcome on board!
It is very early days in my quit, but I can notice the difference even now, I can walk the dogs comfortably nowadays, without breathing problems. I want to sleep all the time, no increase in my energy level yet, but I am getting there.
When people were talking about rewards, I thought 'being proud is enough satisfaction, I don't need a reward to feel good', but it really helps.
So remember to spoil yourself, every day, every week, after a difficult day
If you don't have already, get a dog, they do the spoiling part for you

1st attempt in 4 years...

Brenda, I can't believe I didn't read about this before, you have a very inspiring success story hidden there!!
Lost 69 lbs????
I was hiding behind the 'but I will put on weight if I quit now' for many years, I think you need to tell your story more often!!

Having a bad day!

Thanks for all the replies
I am feeling much better today, much much better.

It is not just about smoking, we all had bad days when we were smoking, didn't we? So smoking doesn't help for sure, but chocolate does help

Aloha, I will try 'how nice' with a polite smile, I am pretty sure it will work!
I don't normally care, I can laugh it off, yesterday was different for some reason.

The best part was, I really really didn't want to smoke at all, I don't think I even had a single craving yesterday, how great is that? (we need a dancing icon)

No, no, no!
I am the moron magnet for sure.
Some idiot took a deep breath from his cigarette and puffed in my face just now, it was meant to be a joke I guess.
The saw wouldn't work for me, I could bang his head against the wall though.
