Hi Everyone

Hi Everyone,
I have been reading the advice on the forums and finding them very helpful. I am just introducing myself for the first time. Have been 5 days smoke free and feel that there is strength in numbers. I like N.O.P.E. (not one puff ever), and all the other good advice. I'm glad I found this site.

Hi Everyone

Thankyou Tresa and Sassy,
I need all the help I can get and think this site is awesome. I feel stronger everytime I log on. I am quitting with the patches. Have had many failed attempts before but feel I've learned something from each one of them. Have had a week off work because of a chest infection go back to work on Monday. I need to learn how to cope with stress without a cigarette. I'll try deep breaths or a walk in the fresh air. Anyone got any tips on dealing with stress at work.

Happy National Smoke-Free Week!

There are so many positive aspects in not smoking.
I don't have to waste time smoking, when I could be doing something better. I don't have to waste money on cigarettes and I feel a lot calmer and more in control. I don't smell like an ashtray and I have the best support system on this site ever. So thanks everyone.

Alright! We can do this the hard way or the easy way

Thank you Mr Q,
I like the way you put it, I will think of smoking as the flu now and no one wants the flu or misses the flu.
I've been doing ok, but today I have a sore back and it's making me feel down. I used to smoke to change the way I felt and I think my unconscious mind is telling to have a cigarette, but I know that cigarettes don't make anything better they just make them worse. So no matter what happens I'll get through it without a smoke. I hope my back gets better soon.
Thanks for being there all of you.

A sure way to lessen the smoking population...

Hi Angie,
You are dead right, most people probably wouldn't start smoking if they thought they were going to get fat. I try sugar free chewing gum or mints or a glass of ice cold water and feel that helps with the cravings. I have been eating more aswell but I'll deal with that later.
You are doing great. I always enjoy reading your posts.

Welcome back Lisa.
Nice to "meet you". I'm new here not, "met" you before. Wish you good luck for Sunday. You can do it, you've done it before.

had a crave today

Congratulations Valic on making it through the crave, I had a slight one yesterday, but know a cigarette will just make things worse not better. Mr Q said something about smoking being like the flu and that helped me through.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks Jay
My back is alot better today and you are doing great. I don't want to smoke but am realising the way addiction gets a hold mostly I feel it's changing the way I react to situations. I'm using the patches just now, but feel with all the support of this site I will make it.

Very Afraid

Thank you Mr Q,
You have helped me immensly by sharing your story. That's exactly how I feel. Now I know it'll all work out. I work in a lab and have to be very accurate at my job. Lots of focus, but it's ok I am managing fine. I always enjoy reading your posts. I have also read the Allen Carr book and it is all about changing your belief systems toward nicotine addition, just like finding your way out of a maze.
So thanks again
