Drinking may be ok for some people as long as they have no underlying health issues and they drink in moderation.  Moderation is defined as staying within the recommended limits that promote positive health effects as a result of consumption as opposed to negative effects as a result of over-consumption.

What’s the limit?

•     1 drink a occasion for women

•     1-2 drink a occasion for men

What potential health benefits could be achieved by drinking in moderation?

A decrease in risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, development of Alzheimer, dementia and increase in longevity of life.

For some of you abstinence may be the best choice but for others looking to reduce their consumption, drinking in moderation can be a great target to shoot for!

Drinking is not like biking or running. Alcohol is a drug and needs to be used responsibly.  The more you can learn about alcohol the better.  Try reading through the program and forums.  You will find valuable information that can help you answer your questions.
