Baby Coen - I really think having a relationship with your Dr. where you feel you can be honest with him/her is SO important because they are supposed to be there to help you not judge you. Having said that, YOU CAN DO IT with or without the Chantix! Thank you for reading and posting :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15 Amount Saved: $3.38 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 2 Mins: 57 Seconds: 43

Hi, I had to do what you are doing for the last week or so before my quit date. I was finding that I was so dizzy from not smoking that I had to cut down before quitting all together. It will be 48 since my last cigarette at 7 pm tonight. I couldn't go on Chantix because I never admitted to my doctor that I smoke-how bad is that????

It's hard but it's getting out of those 'supposed to' ones that make all the difference to you successfully quitting. Every time one of those times comes along do a lot of talking to yourself. How much better you will feel if you DON'T have that one. Don't listen to all the little voices. Keep on doing all the things suggested elsewhere on this site and keep busy. Don't take cigarettes with you in the car, train, plane, bus and then you simply can't smoke. Missing them and having cravings is what you have to go through. There's no way round that. Keep reading and posting on here too. Good luck. Thank you all for so much support It is a really great feeling to get back on the computer after a few days and see all these encouraging posts. But it also makes the fact that I did not quit on Friday when I had said I would (or Saturday, OR Sunday for that matter) seem so awful. I am dissappointed in myself and I feel weak and like I am a failure. I know I am not the only one who didn't quit on their Quit Date and then felt this way, I am just trying to post, get honest and connect myself here. I feel like the Chantix IS really helping. Even though I did not honor my Quit Date, over the weekend I could have my morning coffee and not feel like I needed a cigarette. Except the very first 3 days I have not had the "last one of the day" right before bed. And every time I smoked it still has only been because I felt like I was "supposed to" not because I "needed to" (except right before I got on an airplane on Friday) which is very strange. It's almost as if my main challenge right now is to remind myself when I feel like i'm "supposed to smoke" that that would be silly because I don't smoke? Anybody else ever felt this way? So to give you an update as to where I am right now, the last time I smoked was at 7:30am. I commuted to work - usually I smoke 3x on the way - but I had 1/2 and that was it. I went to the store and back in my car - another time I would normally cram in a couple cigarettes - and I didn't smoke. So it has been 6 hours. I am focusing on not smoking right now. "Now" meaning just right in the next couple hours or so at a time. I don't want to say I have quit because I keep failing at that. It seems like my friends and family are so much more dissappointed in me when I don't succeed and they find out or I tell them I am still smoking. I guess I'll just see how it goes for right "now". THANK YOU all that are reading this for allowing me to ramble, I know this was a long post I just had so much to get out. Anyway, Thanks! :) AlphabetJ Ps - Steve and Ginette, I hope you too are doing better than I did! If you guys will have me, maybe we could stick together and be Quit buddies? Welcome AJ It takes time for one to accomplish what we set out to do, but it can be done. Good for you for quitting. Chantix didn't help me but it has helped others tremendously. Keep up the good work. AJ, when you decide to smoke...try Wrigley's Sour Apple gum instead of the smoke! When I first quit 15 months ago, I traded my smokes for the gum, and it really worked! Since you use Chantix, it should be a little easier for you, because I just went cold turkey with the gum! At first, I went through 4 - 5 packs of gum a day, and almost ALWAYS had it in my mouth. Now, I buy a pack or 2 every once in a while, chew it once in a while...but, I like the Dum Dum sour apple suckers better! I tried for 29 YEARS to quit without much success, but I have now been smoke free for over 15 months! I feel better, smell better, breathe better, and AM better without them! Good Luck! Betty2
