Read the book in preparation for the quit. That, this site and patches worked for me (even though the book recommends Cold Turkey) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 508 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15,240 Amount Saved: 3,810.00 Life Gained: Days: 81 Hrs: 15 Mins: 34 Seconds: 6

Hi Healthier by the Minute, I am on my 30th day today and have also had a major urge to smoke this afternoon. I wonder what it is..... You would think after 30 days you would pretty much be finished with the addiction but not at all. I also have Alan Carr's book. Just started reading it actually, I think I was supposed to quit after reading the book not before but oh, well. Good luck to you and keep up the quit!!!! Birdcrazy, It doesn't happen to everybody, and when you get to that point, it may or may not happen to you. BUT, enough people, both who knew about this common low point AND those who did not, have struggled at this point that I felt it was worth mentioning. Personally, I think it has something to do with major milestones. As smokers, whenever we accomplished something, we rewarded ourselves with a cigarette... mow the lawn - have a cigarette, clean the house - have a cigarette. So now that we've done something major, our brains expect a reward... and the only reward we ever really knew was a cigarette, so that's what we want. That's why other rewards are SO important while quitting! Healthier, have you been rewarding yourself throughout your quit, and especially for being quit for one month? If not, it sounds like you're due a reward! Go out and be good to yourself for making it this far! Crave the Quit!
