Hmmmm..in fact I was thinking about posting in this thread, but hadn't gotten around to it. I stopped all chantix on July 1, I think it was. Still have slightly more intense urges than when I was on 2 mg/day, but they go away fairly fast. The first thing in the morning thought has been there, which has been a surprise, as well as the after work one. Since the latter has been my most challenging one thoughout, I'm not surprised by that, but sure wish it would just go away already!
But, the good news continues to be that chantix helped me so much in getting on the path of no smoking that this journey has been more of a joy than a hardship.
I really wish I could examine my neurotransmitter action to see how it has changed over time, but my guess is that the chantix helped transition my synapses from being overstimulated by the nicotine to a more "normal" amount of dopamine flowing between them. Hmmmm...just had a thought about whether smoking was a way I self-medicated to increase the dopamine levels originally.
Anyway, I guess this ends my chantix story. I hope I, and all you other chantix users, will be in that approximately 40-50% abstainer group at the end of a year.
