thanks unhooked..what happened to our crazy agnes??? I am better today. I made it through the evening; had a talk with my ex about our son. He is going to have a talk with the little darling. I have noticed lately that I think about cigs and seem to crave alot more on my 2 days off then during the week when I am at work??? When I have alot of free time, time to relax, that is when I want to smoke. Now, the weather is turning nice and the patio at my condo...AHHH...always smoked out there also. I am going to sit out there and read now..NO smoking. My positive mindset is coming back today. I could so recognize that "what the hell, it's only one. I won't smoke tomorrow" reasoning creeping in. That is the type of reasoning that gets me back on the smoking/no smoking, craving all the time, merry go round. I feel better today..thanks all new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 121 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,904 Amount Saved: $605.00 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 17 Mins: 18 Seconds: 37

Hang in, new me. You know you can. Go out, think things through, calm down, & while you're doing all that, notice how much better you feel than before. Really notice smells & tastes & your own breathing. If you haven't already, re-read this thread & see how you came through last time & how strong you felt when you did! As someone here said recently (sorry, forget who), you don't want a smoke, you want to feel better. Do what makes you feel better, new me, cause you know smoking won't! Oh and here, dear, take a tinfoil hat, it will keep the junkie from reading your thoughts & knowing you feel bad. No, really, take it, it's actually to stop aliens from abducting you & testing your teeth (they don't give them back), but everyone around here seems more worried about junkies, silly people! Got any lint you aren't using? well, the bad cravings are back again! I think this is stress related. I have been fighting with my son for a few days now. I wanted a cig sooo bad..geez, go to H#&^ nicodevil...AHHHHHH! I am going to my neighborhood coffe shop tonight, chill, listen to some music..and stay away from the smokers outside..I don't care how philosophical their discussions get..ha! Its crazy. I want to smoke, but I don't want to smoke. I don't want to awaken my addict self. It would kill me. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 120 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,880 Amount Saved: $600.00 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 15 Mins: 33 Seconds: 40

Hi all, Work today was much better...I guess that I was better. I actually smiled a few times! Martha, that perspective really hit home for me. I did not feel all those negative emotions because i don't smoke, or because i can't have a cig...I felt those emotions because I got in a fight with my son. Maybe i over=reacted to the situation because I was going through a craving time. in the aftermath of a stressful situation, my mind is trained to go get a cig, go light up, go smoke. So, thanks everyone...you crack me up, unhooked. I am still recovering today, but I am much better. great list, Sue. And, I know Sparky, when i get those craves..I do not NEED a cig, I WANT ONE! But, my rational self knows better..i don't really want one; I am just a nicotine addict. new me new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 117 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,808 Amount Saved: $585.00 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 2 Mins: 33 Seconds: 34

Hey New Me, I hope today was a better day :) It was for me, and that is one of the things I hold on to, the bad days are rare. I don't wake up hacking in the morning I am not coughing up lougies anymore I no longer smell like an ashtray I am not wheezing anymore My endurance workouts are more satisfying (hush Heather, I am being serious now!!) My skin looks better Those wrinkles around my mouth from smoking won't get any worse I don't crave anymore I rarely think about smoking I can smell and taste now I have new coping skills for anxiety and so on and on affirm your positives, remind yourself, you should be seeing them everyday now. Protect your quit!! You done good new me! I didn't read all the other replies but it looks like the importance of rewards got thrown around so I'll leave that be. Another thing is that you have now caught a glimpse of life as a non-smoker. Sometimes it ain't pretty, and sometimes we get caught in a tailspin BUT we don't have to smoke! You've proven that to yourself in a big way and I'll tell you, the feelings you had after the argument with your son - miserable, panicky, restless, aggitated - those are normal. That's a normal, stressful situation and you did all the right things to get through it. I'm sorry for the rough patch but it sounds like you are coming out of it with flying colors :) All the best My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1140 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,800 Amount Saved: $5,130.00 Life Gained: Days: 87 Hrs: 1 Mins: 37 Seconds: 24

You are stronger than you realize. You just won a big victory over that darn monster. YOU DID NOT SMOKE!!! And the monster is starting to die a slow, slow, slow death :eg: Now remember how you got though this and the next time you can remember your victory and it will carry you though again. Another little reminder, a want and a need have very different meanings. Think on this one. Have a great day!!
