Wow, Ex Roller what a tragic loss. Grief is such a surreal experience and throw quitting in the mix and I guess the cravings are inevitable. You have a great, positive mindset and that along with the strength you find in your faith will definitely get you and your sons through this. I'm very sorry for your loss Ex-Roller. The news is tragic. My thoughts go out to you and your family. You seem to be holding up extraordinarily well. I have no experience that helps me understand what you're facing. If we can help or provide comfort let us know. Ex-roller, I am so sorry to hear this news. Your son must be devastated, and thus you are called on to be the comfort when you are feeling your own awful feelings. I think in times of stress, our lizard brain reaches deep for some old comforts. But we know enough now to know that they won't really bring us any comfort. Only time can do that. Hugs to you and your family. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi everyone. Well this last 10 days I have been a lot quieter on the boards than usual because I have been faced with my biggest challenge so far. Last monday (6th August) we found out my 21 year old son's best friend of 10 years (also 21) was killed in a high speed car accident, along with another lad 19 years old who happened to be a close friend of my 19 year old son. I have been dealing with their grief and also feeling quite bereft myself having known one of the boys who used to visit here from time to time. My two sons will be pall-bearers to their respective friends at two separate funerals next week. Wow, the cravings have felt so physical (even though I know they are not). I have not felt tempted to smoke thankfully, but it's like my brain has gone into auto-pilot and is really bent on getting a cigarette to get through this awful time. I know I won't cave, I'm sure of it, but wow I didn't expect it to feel so physical.
