Feel good, but I know Nicodemon is sneaky

Realize I'm craving and I'm on top of it. However, I realize Nicodemon wears many suits. I must be on constant alert. Aware of the fact that I am just paranoid. Humor me, buddy. It feels real. My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 595 Amount Saved: $112 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 11 Mins: 47 Seconds: 26

I'm feeling scared. I really don't want to smoke again. The withdrawals were absolutely awful (vomiting, gas, headaches, heart palpitations), but I'm afraid of not being able to fend off a really intense craving. I was afraid when I read about someone's slip, because she seemed to have really enjoyed the cigarettes. Smelling smoke has been making me feel sick lately. But she posited the idea that she could just start quitting again. Sounds good, but I know that for me it is just a lie. I will smoke three packs the first day and feel like garbage, but it will be at least an entire year before I'll have the strength to do this again. But slipping sound romantic. I'm just scared. Yes, that darned nicodemon can be very crafty. I'm glad that you are staying in control. I'm focusing on doing the same and trying not to "lose it". It's encouraging to hear that feeling better does actually happen in time. Let's do this! We are all different people. Some will have quits similar to yours. And some will have quits that are not similar to yours. I know how you feel. I too would get afraid when I read about other people's slips in the beginning of my quit. Part of that is junkie thinking and part of it is not knowing what to expect because your quit is so young/new. Just know that you are doing fine. Just keep moving forward in the right direction. And keep protecting your quit. Slipping is not romantic. Who wants to go back to day one again? Don't be scared. You have a great support group here.
