NRT or no NRT?

17 years ago 0 2039 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Only 3 days in, but I have to agree with Mr. Ed. Allen Carr says to quit "cold turkey", but hey, if its easier with the NRT's go for it. I don't think I could do it without. I plan to run the full course of patches, and stay on the wellbutrin for as long as it takes. What strength of patch did you finish up with, Phil? One day at a time with no NRT's. You're doing great!!!! Phil you're right, this thread is definitely worth reading. Lots of experiences shared on whether to use NRT's or not. I think whatever works, go for it. Every quit is different and so is every response to that quit. NRT's or no NRT's - both are perfectly fine! Have a good one, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 188 Amount Saved: $54 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 16 Mins: 54 Seconds: 2

Jan I was on 15mg then 10 then 5 patches but after that I used 2 mg gum(2 or 3 pieces a day) for about 3 weeks. In retrospect I think the gum was probably not needed but I still carry some just in case (not used since Dec26th) Phil x My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 161 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,390 Amount Saved: 845.25 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 6 Mins: 58 Seconds: 16

HiGang This is a question we often hear. Let me tell you my experience.. I quit August 8th last year. Used patches and gum until Decenber 26th, Lots of struggling along the way as many of you know but didnt smoke! On Dec 26th I had this strange feeling that all was OK and stopped the gum. Was great for a few days but now I feel as if I am quitting all over again! I am back to one day at a time!!!!! The good thing is that having quit with the NRT first time I know what to expect in terms of cravings and having 5 plus months under my belt I am not going back. So from my experience NRT does work BUT you need to work with it VERY HARD! Hope this helps someone Phil My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 160 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,362 Amount Saved: 840 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 0 Mins: 34 Seconds: 9

Sharon You are right I wont smoke and you wont........ But it is important for people to realise that NRT or any other wonder drug is NOT a 100% answer!! Hi Phil, You were without any nicotine from december 26th. That's almost 20 days. You do not need any nrt at all after such a long time. The nicotine addiction is long gone. It's all in your head matey. Love Dutchy ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 289 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,689 Amount Saved: 852.55 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 7 Mins: 8 Seconds: 1
