Hi Kristilu - I'm glad you're giving it another go.  And I'm sorry to hear about your father.
Ditto to what Karren and I Quit said - Mr. J and I used the patch as well, and followed the instructions to the T.  No deviation whatsoever.
I know you've had difficulty maintaining your quit in the past, so promise yourself and everyone here, that if you feel you're going to cave, get on here no matter what, and yell for help.  You know the drill, you just need to follow it.  Having a positive attitude is extremely helpful, but dedication and committment are needed as well.  If you really want to quit, you will.  We can't do it for you, but we can sure help you get to the finish line.  Best wishes - stay close and let's get this done!

Hello Kristilu and welcome back, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. Any help you need to make this quit stick this time around you just holler, and take note of what IQuit says- following the patch programme to the letter is vital. Although you may feel very confident after a couple of weeks it is imperative you carry out the patch instructions for a succesful quit. I am  a patch quitter and thought they were just amazing- so good luck and welcome back.

Hi Kristilu, I just had to respond to your post. I promised myself I would quit before I was 50. Guess what! that was a year and a half ago. I tried quitting millions of times and I joined this place in 2005 the first time. Your post hit me because of something you said and I felt. My quit this time was via the patch only this time I promised myself that I was going to follow it to a T. Today is my first day patch free and I KNOW it is because I did it right this time. So many times I started on step 2 then took it off after 2 weeks cuz I was strong. Ya right! You have the right idea this time and it will no doubt work. I am having tough times, I think that is natural and you will find 'your moments' too but stay strong, you've got 8 weeks to go before you have to worry about anything.

Hi Kristi,

My heart goes out to you.  My dad isn't doing very well and I'm having to deal with the idea that he won't be here much longer.  And it has to do with cigarettes.  So, although I can't say that I know you or your family, I can say that that pain is very much present in our lives too.

And I admire you very much as I admire everyone here that is making the committement.  That we deserve better.  That we bought into some kind of line at some point in our lives that told us that smoking would make our lives more complete-- better.  Even maybe more fun.

I'm just past my 3rd week and I'm starting to cough up yucky stuff.  My lungs are starting to work again and are cleaning house.  Temptations are around us, and getting through the first and second week are hard.  But you can do this.  Bob is right.  This is a family and we are here for you.  Take the very good advice already given, and keep checking in.  I promised that I would write something everyday here no matter how tired I was.  Keeping connected helps us stay accountable.  And if you happen to have a slip, then come back again.  There is no judgement, only support.

deb
