Great subject to think about. I have grandchildren who were watching me closely and were saying to me that I was killing myself. The generation I grew up in was totaly blind to the dangers of tobacco.I doubt that thier were 400 additives in a cig when I first smoked but addictive just the same. The tobacco Industry lied before congress about this. The public in general and especially the children are well aware of the dangers of tobacco. Yet, I read that more and more teen agers are starting the habit. The tobacco industry will give samples away at concerts to addict our children and put money in thier pocket. Yes alot of people are watching. Some wanting us to quit and others wanting us to buy thier products. I think the anger I feel about this is a great modivation to my quit.I had been sneaking around for some time before I finally quit. I was only fooling myself. Every one around me knew.OHH OHH that smell, can't you smell that smell? I can smell it a block away now, but it wont be comming from me!! I never realized until LONG after I quit, just how many people were watching me... many were hoping I'd fail so they could have an excuse to keep smoking... others were wanting somebody else to "test the waters" for them before doing it themselves. My niece, because of both me and her dad quitting smoking, has seen our trials and despite many temptations, has chosen NOT to start smoking. She's 18, and we all know that she COULD change her mind, but I hope that her dad and I have been examples to her. You never know who you can affect. Crave the Quit! I agree one hundred percent 100% butterfly! I didnt realize how much my hubby was watching me.....but three weeks now he has been smoke free. We are proof that it can be done. We are an inspiration for others. Even if you are on day 1 of being smoke free you are being watched. ?Lolo My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,560 Amount Saved: $351.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 9 Mins: 10 Seconds: 39

Quitting smoking takes quite a bit of responsibility. How many of us have somebody, or sometimes many people, watching us? Many of us don't even know WHO is watching... but I promise you, many are. Many of us have co-workers who are smokers, but want to quit. Perhaps they just need proof that it can be done before they "waste their time" on the impossible. Perhaps it's a relative who is sick of smoking, but doesn't feel that "they" can quit - they know others can, but not them. But if YOU do it... the die-hard smoker who said you would NEVER quit... well then, maybe it IS possible for them. Children watch us all the time, both those who smoke AND those who don't. Maybe one child will not take up smoking because he/she has seen the struggles you have gone through to quit. Perhaps because you've quit, you might actually be saving somebody else the heartache of having an addiction. Before you pick up that next cigarette, think about who's watching you. Who's life may be different because you are quitting now? You may not ever even know who you are affecting, but chances are, people are watching you.
