Hey there Dayone I'm right behind you on day 8 Isn't it great!!! Congradulations I've had a few of the symptons mild headache the first few days, coughing spell on about day3 and I still am not sleeping well I've actually started taking the patch off before I go to bed and putting it back on first thing in the am. I figured I never smoked through the night before so I don't need the nicotine through the night. I've started going for a 30min walk on my lunch break, which was when I used to have a couple of cigs. NO MORE The walks are really refreshing and really makes me feel good for the rest of the afternoon. Just needed to get some thoughts out there on surviving the first week. It's been 10 days now and I am still here. I am proud of myself and wondering how I did it. I worked through each and every craving and trigger. I ate pretzels and licorice and drank lots of water. I have had some of the symptoms of the sore throat, coughing, headaches, but keep telling myself only another week and maybe it will be better. Will power helped me get through the tough times....breaks at work, visiting family that smokes, car rides alone. On the good side, I wake up in the morning without my chest hurting, or coughing all day long. I don't smell like an ashtray anymore either. I can play a game of volleyball without being exhausted and can walk the steps at work....... I know this will all be worth it and will do my best to stay smoke free. For those on day 1 or 2....keep up the strength and use this site for your thoughts. Another smole free day is a good day in the end! thanks for the encouragement....and for those right behind me...congrats. It is true that everyday is a little easier. I find myself not thinking about having a cigarette...can you imagine! :) Hey Freedom...let me know how it goes over the next few for you...You mentioned the patch...how's that working? I am on chantix and find it working well. I am going to get back on the treadmill as soon as I get over this cold. Everyone says to start walking right away, so way to go..... Let's stay smoke free...one day at a time...
