Dear Pam, My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time for you and your family. Boy, reading your post really made me stop and think about all the people that may suffer medical illness due to my stinking habit. I will promise to never put my grandchildren in that dangerous situation again. That makes me think would I send one of them in the street and take a chance on them being hit by a car. Absolutely not then why would I take a chance of causing them a life threatening disease by subjecting them to secondhand smoke. Thanks for opening my eyes and heart to a different way of thinking. Again, my prayers are with you at this time. You have been here for so many of us that I believe you have a huge following of friends that are ready to be a shoulder for you to cry on, ear to listen without judgement and soft place to land when the whole world seems cold and hard. This weekend has been extremely difficult. Besides my getting the flu, losing my power for a week due to an ice storm and consequently having to live with my parents for a week, my grandfather was put in the hospital and is now in intensive care in a coma. He was admitted to the ICU yesterday due to his inability to breathe. He has suffered from emphysema and has been on and off of oxygen for many years now, but his suffering will probably be put to an end soon. [b]My grandfather has never smoked a day in his life![/b] My grandmother quit a 50+ year addiction about 10 years ago when my grandfather was in the begining stages of the emphysema. This is a horrible disease and can affect the ones we love just as easily as ourselves. It's just so sad that others who have never made the choice to smoke are affected by such horrible diseases as well. This is a very difficult time for myself and my family. Thanks for your support.
