Hi Cheer - I'm always the last one posting. Just wanted to say that I'm sorry you're going through a rough phase. It sounds like holidays may be a rough time for you for many years (Our bodies/minds seem to remember to grieve even when we think that we are okay) Anyway, take care....Hope all goes well for you. I'm doing the Thanksgiving thing also. Mine and my husbands first as an ex-smoker! He has two brothers and a sister-in-law that smoke as well as our older children. Everybody's used to smoking at our house. NOT THIS YEAR! I do it every year because we live in the same town with both of our elderly mothers (not the same house :gasp: God forbid!) It's easier on them. I have put my foot down with EVERYONE about smoking here. There is a smoking area on the front porch or by the pool and butts from the can must be emptied by the smokers before they leave. ;) I'm having a bit of a down day as well...been on JUST the Chantix for going on 2 days now and just kinda...blah! Plus today is a holiday- Veterans Day-so without work I have a lot of down time. Rusty...No one smokes in my house lol. Wont have it since my youngest who is 6 has been in and out of hospitals because he is allergic to smoke (hope my house doesn't burn with him in it and me cooking). So Thanksgiving is a little stressful but since I haven't hosted it in over 5 years (my sister and I used to alternate) I offered. I am hoping it snows like the dickens on Thanksgiving as they all have to smoke outside :eg: and that would make my day. Ladybugg, I do need to get out more but am at work right now. I am actually doing something tomorrow that thrills me just not sure i'm excited about it anymore. I am trying some new recipes and bought the stuff yesterday. I'm finding I can attempt to cook and it may actually be good. I guess I seem to have troubles more on the weekend because I am still in the accepting and still not 100% sure of my quit when around a smoker. I will be honest in that aspect, its hard to ditch a husband that wont go away (just kidding) and a quitter is supposed to avoid those situations if need be. Thanks though My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 156 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,911 Amount Saved: $631.8 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 18 Mins: 56 Seconds: 3

Life has been great. So why am I down? Why after last weekend being an eye opener and I finally feel like a non-smoker? Who knows. All I know is deep inside I feel blah, down, depressed, whatever you want to call it. Just had a 5 month reward (made my husband sit through a movie I picked), looking forward to my 6 month reward Dec 7th (oh and its huge!!!) but this just wont go away. I am already on antidepressants so that wont do anything. Maybe its the weekend blues (the challenge of conquering the weekend with a smoking husband). Maybe its the upcoming Thanksgiving when my entire family comes over for the day and they ALL smoke (even my dad gave up on his quit). I just need something funny to read. Read all the recent threads/posts that are funny or uplifting but nothing is helping. I helped a couple people here get through a rough spot yesterday. Maybe I spent all my energy helping others. Maybe its because I wanted to help Jan so bad but she succumbed to smoking agian. Who knows. Just need something. Or maybe I'm venting. But I've already made my weekend promise so rest-assured I will NOT smoke during the next 3 days. One day at a time, or in my case, 1 minute Kim My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 156 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,910 Amount Saved: $631.8 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 18 Mins: 54 Seconds: 42

Thanks for the responses. Yes, it will be tough until the New Year and yes, I do want to keep my quit. Just smoking was my crutch for the past 15 years in dealing with the holidays on when my only brother was killed. And I have to admit, thanks to Shevie and ParrotLady, they have got me thinking straighter. Smoking wont bring him back and yes I may have relied on smoking through the holidays to get me through and this year my goal will be to make it through one hard day at a time. I just realized my 6 month anny will be celebrated the same day he died. hmmm Is there a reason I quit on the 7th? Maybe it was him saying STOP KILLING YOURSELF and start living. Thanks everyone. I will have to visit often during the next two months (hopefully no one minds) and wont go far because it will be shakey for me. I have my phone numbers ready since I cant drive and type on a computer/laptop at the same time. Hugs and looking straight thru to the new year. I want to thank Rusty, Ladybugg, fagashlynne, gonnadoit, and everyone I've talked too offline also (and of course Casey) as without everyone here I wouldn't have gotten through this wave of who-knows-what or the blahs. I mentioned Shevie and ParrotLady earlier but I also want to thank all of you. I will stick close by the next couple months and once I make it through the holidays, a little stress will feel like a walk in the park.
