Where Did The Butt's Go,

17 years ago 0 481 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well... when I walk around my building at lunch to do some excersize instead of smoking my lunch like I used to, I notice a lot of people still smoking. But most people don't just throw the butts down on the ground. I know when I was smoking, I would put the butt in my pocket or purse or put it out in my ashtray in my car. Here in Texas, which is the last frontier I guess, we still have a lot of smokers. Since I quit I notice them more i guess. I don't think the whole world started smoking because I quit. (that has been one of my irrational thoughts though) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 667 Amount Saved: $91.2 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 18 Mins: 27 Seconds: 22

Great post. LOL at Mr. Ed & Rusty I actually notice people smoking now ... where as before I didn't. I look at them and think ... UGH! That use to be me! What a dummy I was! Interesting post John, thanks for sharing. There is a big push nowadays for smokers to quit from the general population, the medical community and the government. What a wonderful trend! Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi John, New here. Where I live, the law enforcement is starting to be strick about throwing butts out of the car window- too dry- fire hazard. Most smokers I know don't. Also, when walking if you are going to smoke, it's considered best form to put the cig out on your shoe and place into pocket, until a receptacle is found. I do notice less smokers though, which is good all around :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 213 Amount Saved: $32.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 32 Seconds: 45

Hello John W, Not John Wayne I hope! This horse is wild and doesn't do cowboy films. Got my own show anyway! Seriously though, there are definitely less butts on the ground these days. 2 possibilities here: 1 - there are less people smoking 2 - cigarettes are now so expensive that smokers are picking up discarded butts and smoking them to save money Fantastic stats by the way! Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 124 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,731 Amount Saved: 930 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 17 Mins: 47 Seconds: 41

It's so funny that you brought that up about the lack of butts. I've gotta say since I've quit I do look to see how many there are in ashtrays by store doors, etc. And I think you are right. There are not as many butts. I think a sociatal (sp? or made up word) cigarette shift is happening to. Now that you mention it, John, I don't see as many butts lying around as I used to. But since I quit, I see many, many more smokers. They are all around me. In cars, on the street, on patios outside restaraunts, all over the place. I never saw them when I smoked. Back then, all I saw were the non-smokers that I was bothering. To the lady with the garage sale I say, "Good for you!" :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 390 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,816 Amount Saved: $1482 Life Gained: Days: 72 Hrs: 20 Mins: 30 Seconds: 7

Hi JohnW! I love seeing your posts as you always have so many wise words. ;) It's too hot to walk down my road, so I don't know if there are any butts out there (although there are some who live in my neighborhood -- hahaha!) But I notice that there are fewer around the building where I work. Love ya, Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 551 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15,440 Amount Saved: $1928.5 Life Gained: Days: 75 Hrs: 20 Mins: 28 Seconds: 1
