You can do this! We can help you get there. Sounds like you are doing a good job preparing. But early on you might want to change up your routine so that you are not triggered to smoke. For example, you likely associate drinking coffee with having a cigarette. Try herbal tea or another warm beverage instead of coffee in the morning. Also, be sure to check in daily here to ensure your motivation stays up and you also remain accountable.
Welcome back to the SSC!!! I'm glad that you are giving it another go! Since you have all of your practice quits under your belt, you should be ready for your forever quit and we're gonna be here to see you through it! I know it's been a while since you've been here, so you might want to review the program, restock your quit basket and revise your list of coping mechanisms! I'm sure it will help!
Remember to keep a Positive Mental Attitude and prepare yourself well to do battle once again! This time, commit to winning every battle and live by those four famous words... Not One Puff Ever ! ! ! You CAN do this Momma D!!!
Well congrats to you on all your time you did not smoke. And, kudos for quitting again! So, it sounds like you are prolonging your first cigarette a little more everyday. I hear that works for some. I tried doing that. I started with 10 minutes. Then 30 minutes etc...But, like I said that did not work for me!
However, it did prepare me for the mental part of it. Because, I got used to saying no....and waiting.
Thanks for your reply Shannon. I have quit 3x the longest was for 7 yrs but I relapsed after a terrible loss. This site was very helpful getting me thru all the turnmoil. My other attemps since 2010 have been off and on. I have a ton of health issues that smoking only makers worse so I am more than ready. I have told myself that I cannot have that 1st cup of coffee and smoke until I post here........sooooooooooooo I managed to do that. My next step is to not smoke with coffee at all. I'm trying to move my quit date to this Sunday but I'm kinda afraid to do that. One day at a time and it is really, really true N O P E
Welcome! How is cutting back going? I tried a gradual decline, but felt like I was prolonging my agony. Are you decreasing your intake by one a day now? two?
