Well may of the diseases can happen to anyone--smokers and nonsmokers. However, they happen to smokers much more often. The chance that smokers will get lung cancer is 10%; COPD, 15%, etc. Smokers play Russian Roulette.

Fact: A common myth among smokers is that the diseases associated with smoking could happen to anyone who may not even be a smoker. You are taking a chance! Smoking will affect you.
