Pat,

I don't know if this is the place to even mention this, or if this is something that will help you find peace.  When my dad was dying from cancer, he was very sick, and in much pain for a long time.  At his funeral, my aunt, to this day proclaims that he appeared to her in a vision, telling her not to be sad because he was finally pain free and at peace.  He has been dead for 26 years this October 27 and she remembers it like it was yesterday and still stays steadfast that this is what happened to her.  I don't know if this helps, or what your beliefs are, I just thought that if this could help you or your children find some peace, I would share this with you.  Take Care Pat, I do believe that he will find his peace.

This will be the last update on this thread.

My daughter took him to the hospital Monday.  They admitted him right away.  Some medical procedures were done to keep him comfortable and a new CT scan was done.  We found out today the end is very near.  I pray he goes peacefully.

Thanks for all your support.

I promise I will not smoke.

Pat

Pat,

Thank you for keeping us updated on the boards. It sounds like you have incredible children who are doing all they can to make their father comfortable.

How have you been doing lately through all of this?

Thanks everyone for taking the time to give me your input on this one.
It seems my ex is getting weaker and can no longer eat solids, though I'm not sure if it's because of the cancer or the treatments.  My son called my daughter this week to say that he has real concerns about the weight loss and feels he needs some help with making his Dad more comforatable (they live together but my son has to work more than full time).  My daughter is going up to spend the coming weekend with them.  She is going to decide if she needs to drop out of school to help them out (she lives 5 hours from them).  I admire her determination to be there for her Dad.

Breanne, I'd love to hear more from Faryal.  As you know I'm a firm believer in knowledge replacing fear and in this case I'm fearful.

Deborah, you're right...none of us knows how we'd react in a situation like this.  I do struggle with this because it's such a waste of life.  My children are struggling as well but I'm so proud of them for doing what they can for their Dad.  He's very ill.

Lolly...my shining star in all of this has been you.  You give me more strength with your positive spirit than you'll ever know.  Feel well and be joyus brave warrior.

Freespirit, I'm relieved to know of anyone who's even heard of someone cured from cancer the naturopathy way.  There are no guarantees anywhere in life but you bring me some glimmer of hope.  I have to be realisic as well, but holding on to hope makes it easier to have some balance in all this while trying to be supportive for my kids and awaiting the outcome.  I'm praying for a miracle to happen.  You should know I'll never smoke again Laurie...there isn't anything that could ever force me or entice me...I've come way too far for smoking to ever be an option for me again.  I'm a non smoker.

Thanks again for listening everyone.

Pat

Pat:

I have heard of someone that was cured from cancer with Naturopathy (Natural herbs etc) I did not know this person personally but one of my sisters did.   She told me about it just this last week and said the doctors gave him less then 4 months to live - he refused chemo etc and went natural (something about carrots and something in carrots certain fruits - strict diet of certain blends of foods if I remember correctly) but any rate I am sure there are many different things one may try.   I guess after 2 years he is now cancer free and the doctors have not been able to find any trace of cancer in his system.

My sister told me she tried to get my other sister to try Natural cures for her stage 4 breast cancer (rest her sole) which my sister who passed away did not wish to try a natural cure and went with the Chemo route.   She did last 3 years longer although I am not sure if she had what would be considered "quality" life for the most of the 3 years.

Miracles happen every day - and natural may be the way for him.

Please don't smoke Pat (you know as well as everyone else her does that smoking will not help you) its a temp psychological fix and will really not help or solve anything.  And you would feel just absolutely terrible - thus making things even feel worse!

Hugs for you and your family through this time,

Laurie
