Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking.  I smoked 2 packs a day for 20 years.  I went cold turkey, but there are some common grounds to quitting.  Here's what I suggest.  Go through "my program" so you have a plan in place to handle stress and triggers.  Set up your quit meter and add it to your posts from "my profile".  Read, read, and read some more.  Use the search feature here to look up topics affecting your quit (e.g. lozenges) as there is a TON of information on this site.  Post as often as you need, if only to rant and rave.  Drink TONS of iced water as it helps with cravings and it flushes the toxins out of your system.  Set up a reward program to celebrate each passed craving (small reward), each smoke free day (medium reward), and each smoke free week (larger reward).  Treat yourself like royalty as this quit is all about you!  Throw away all smoking stuff (lighters, ashtrays).  Clean your car/house/office/etc to get rid of the smoke smell.  Do laundry so your clothes don't smell like smoke.  Avoid triggers until you are comfortable being around them.  If things get ready tough, change your scenery.  Go for a walk.  Smell the roses.  Keep busy!  Get as much rest/sleep as you can!  We're all rooting for your success!

You've certainly come to the right place!  There's lots of help, support, and yes, even fun here.

Take this journey one day at a time.  Don't look any further ahead than that.  LOTS of water, walking, napping(when possible), deep breathing, etc., will help to take the edge off.

Each day gets a little easier.

Welcome!!!!!
