Tim:

How does it go today, I do hope the dreams have subsided and that you are moving forward.  There is nothing better than finally getting a handle on the addiction.  There will be times when you may feel that the wall is to high to get over, but I have found that we can find ways to either go through it, or under or in some instances simply walk around it.

You are doing a wonderful thing for yourself, although at times you may not see it that way.  Keep on the high side...

Hi there, Tim & Welcome to the SSC,

I quit using Zyban (this quit--which is my final)--and although it absolutely helped with the cravings, it also made me a bit anxious as well as sleepless. I stayed on it for about 2 weeks and then went on my own. You know--it took a few more weeks--after stopping the zyban, but then I really started sleeping well. (I think it was a way to escape the craving in my earlier days).

There are so many things the body goes through during the quit process--it's hard to pin point the cause. All I can say--if it is helping you stay quit and positive about your quit--use it and let your dr know of  the side effects.

Welcome & I am so happy for you and your decision to quit the nicodemon. I am here to tell you it can be done & life is gooood without the cigs. It takes determination and focus. Keep your eye on the prize of better health and freedom--it is waiting for you.

Keep us posted,
Deb

Hi Tim
I'm glad you are feeling better. Maybe your body is adjusting to Zyban. And you are right, you can quit cold turkey, or with an aid. But the essential ingredient is to be passionate about the quit. To make it the number one priority in our life. To make a nonnegotiable decision to stop harming ourselves. And it is doable.
Keep kicking ash my friend!

Tim,

Good to hear you are feeling better today.

You are absolutely correct in thinking that one of the most important parts of your quit is the passion and determination to succeed as a non-smoker. And by the sounds of it, you are very determined to make this quit last! That's incredible!

Keep us posted on how the next couple of days go for you. As always, we are here whenever you need us!

Hang in there and take this thing event by event.  Sometimes thinking "down the road" causes us to stumble on obstacles that are currently at our feet.  You are right when you say that you must have a passion for getting clean.  It takes all of that and more.  But I can tell you that you will not carry that burden forever.  Eventually your body gets readjusted and your thoughts do drift away from smoking.  But that does not happen unless you allow yourself to understand completely what you are getting from the addiction.  It is different for all of us, but the one line of consistency that runs through the entire web of addiction is that each of us is getting something out of being addicted.  Find your way to get that thing some place else and you will not be returning to smoke-town anytime soon...

15 days !!!......I hadn't seen that......AWESOME.......

At 15 in my Quit I was fighting the addict inside mentally.  Triggers were coming fast and furious.....every move I made........craves were hard hitting from the triggers.....but I posted and yelled and ranted and waited for 5 replies.  It got me through.
Much better now......Hoping your Quit evens out for you soon.

Thanks for the support . Feel much better today. The meds are hard on me but they beat what happens when I try cold turkey. I am assaulting my addiction from all angles, using herbs and vitamins as well. I must say that the Zyban is helping the withdrawal
symptoms, but you must really have a passion for quitting no matter what method you are using. I am in this for good. I am done with tobacco. Thanks again to all who have given support.
