your right of course about not smoking and sleeping, seems like a normal thing, almost. The body can't get nicotine so it sleeps! I wonder if researchers know about this? should we tell them? Seriously, do you think scientists and doctors know this? Like Laniney said - sleep. There is nothing wrong with that. It will pass in time. Remember your body is healing. At least when I was asleep I didn't smoke :eg: Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 77 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 770 Amount Saved: $231.00 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 10 Mins: 14 Seconds: 40

Hi Dopey - oh I mean Shutterbug! Like the dwarf's analogy. Yes the first week or two seems a lot of folks were tired and foggy! Take advantage of it and sleep all you can or relax! I swear I spent the first month in front of the TV just lazying on the sofa cause I was too wiped out to do much. But thats OK! You need to pamper yourself while your body is healing! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 133 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,325 Amount Saved: $1,403.15 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 7 Mins: 0 Seconds: 39

Thanks Mace, Good to have company in this. So far I ache no more than usual, but day time sleep just overtakes me. Hope this does no last too much longer. I am staying away from as many situations where I used to puff away, not easy, but I don't have to tell anyone about that. We are all there or have been. Still a little grumpy and sometimes a little dopey. It will get better, I have to believe that. Thanks again My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $24.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 20 Mins: 21 Seconds: 11

Shutterbug, Please know that you are not alone. Sleeping disturbances are fairly common among new quitters. Smoking increased your metabolism. You metabolism used up the energy you got from food. Now that you've quit your body isn't constantly being drained of energy reserves. The result being, your body needs less sleep. Here are a few tips to help you get back in a good routine: Try to get on a sleep schedule. Go to bed at a regular time each night and get up at a regular time in the morning. Try to not stay up late watching TV and try not to sleep during the day. If you get on a sleep schedule, we guarantee that youll begin to feel better. Try to make the room you sleep in as quiet as possible. Consider ear plugs or a sleep mask. Use your bed only for sleeping. Dont lounge around in your bed. If you spend too much time lounging in bed, watching T.V., drinking coffee, or eating, your body will learn that your bed is NOT a place for sleeping. If you cant sleep after half an hour in bed dont stay in bed trying to sleep. Get up and do some quiet activity. For example, read a book for a half hour and then try going back to bed. If you still cant sleep, get up and do something quiet once again. Try to keep your bedroom at a comfortable temperature - not too cold and not too hot. Try to get some exercise every day. Youll feel better and sleep will come much quicker. Try not to exercise or work hard late in the evening. It could make you feel wired. Dont drink anything with caffeine or alcohol for 4 hours before you go to bed. Try not to eat a heavy meal in the evening. Dont eat just before you go to bed. If youre not sleeping at night, avoid naps during the day. Use relaxation techniques. Deep breathing may help you relax at bed time. Hope this helps. I have interrupted sleep at night, with the inability to stay awake the whole day. Just an overwhelming sense that I cannot keep my eyes open. Hopefully, this is just a passing thing. Lack of sleep is bad for my fibromyalgia, don't need it to act up now. I'm doing better less Grumpy, more Dopey! I'll be all the seven dwarfs except Doc before I'm done. Thanks for the encouragement everyone, it really means alot. I keep telling myself I am not alone. CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an idea! I think I will! have a good day everyone My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 100 Amount Saved: $20.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 28 Seconds: 14
