Hi Pell, welcome to SSC. I hope you find this site as helpful as I have :) I too got a tight chest and sore throat but it went away about 8 days into the quit. I have only felt better since then. I'm alot older than you and smoked along time. I had a pretty nasty cough and just felt bad all the time. Short breathed and broncitis. I have way more to gain from not smoking than I ever did from smoking and so do you. I'm only 11 days into this quit and my longest quit before was 31 days. I just know I'm going to make it because I really don't want to be a smoker. Tired of the ball and chain and smelling like an ash tray. I use the board to replace smoking. All the people who have signed in after me get to here my story because I really dont want to smoke and I just type through the crave. You can too!!! I'll keep checking in on you and you just read, read, read, Blue Cloud My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 200 Amount Saved: $40.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 10 Mins: 47 Seconds: 2

Welcome Pellow :) Congrats on your 6 days smoke free ! I too suffered from a tight/heavy chest and a little sore throat. It should pass as the lungs are clearing and they are getting used to more oxygen :) If your symptoms don't go away or get worse you may want to take a quick visit to the doctor just to make sure all is ok. Biking is great ! Stay close to the site.. put up your quit meter and watch the days and the $ saved grow and grow daily :) Do a lot of reading and post often. We're all in this together :) xo My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 160 Amount Saved: $58.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 22 Mins: 21 Seconds: 35
