Zyban not working

18 years ago 0 948 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hey There, Chantix is a prescription program to help smokers quit. It is a set of pills taken over 12 weeks. You start out taking 1 white pill for three days, they you take 2 white pills for the remainder of the first week. After that they are blue pills taken twice daily (morning and night) for the next 12 weeks. You can smoke while taking the first week's pills and then they suggest you pick a quit date. It cost me $125.00 a month, but most insurance companies now cover it. I started last Thurdsay and my quit date is 3/1/07. I have gone down from 1.5 packs a day to 10 or less in just the last 4 days. Chantix targets the receptors in the brain and stops the nictine from getting there and hence you don't get the same feelings from smoking as you do now. Smoking no longer does any thing for you and it helps you to quit. Chantix also helps with the cravings, they seem to be easier to handle. For the first time in 20+ years, I feel I can actually make this quit stick. I know there will be bumps, but it feels as if I can handle them better being on the Chantix. Ask you doc and good luck!

Hello everyone. Well I tried Zyban, and as every other antidepressant, it drives me crazy! I found a couple things at drugstore, and wondered if anyone has tried them. They are called Endit(like phony cigs) Aqua filter, or One Step. The endit sounded good to me, as I was wondering what to do with my hands when I stop smoking! Id like to hear from anyone who has suggestions. Thanks, catlover My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Zyban also made me crazy, felt like I was on speed and stayed up to long. Patches worked o.k but I had very vivid dreams and an awful taste in my mouth, lozeges stung my mouth, hypnosis didn't quite do it either. Although I know all of these things have been effective for other people just not me personally. Also tried an all natural thing called stop it. Currently I am trying Chantix. Working very well for me. No signifgant side affects. Just kind of got where it just wasn't worth the effort of going out for a smoke. Not to say I didn't have withdrawls or cravings.Reading all the stuff on the website helps to. Keep trying until you find what works for you. Never give up sweetie, you will get there! I forgot to say I smoked 1 to 1 and a half packs a day for 28 years. Also I am a respiratory therapist, know more about what smoking does to people than just about anyone except a pulmonoligist. We all just have to find what works for us personally. We are here for yo don't forget My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 269 Amount Saved: $39 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 30 Seconds: 42

I agree, try Chantix. I was a 1.5 pack a day smoker, but no longer. I talked to my Dr. about Chantix and thought I'd give it a try. WOW--what a life saver. You take it while your smoking for the first week or so and by the time you quit you're not even wanting a cig. I didn't have any problem with what to do with my hands-it's like I never smoked. My last smoke was at 9:30PM on 2/11/07 and I'm here to tell you--CHANTIX WORKS!!!! Be prepared, it can also give you a false sense of accomplishment. I tried talking myself into a cig within three days of my quit, but I figured out what I was doing to myself. It was like, Hey, I've only quit a few days ago, what am I trying to do? Keep coming back to this site, there are so many people who will give you the support you need. We're all pulling for you and if one doesn't work, keep trying. I am living proof that Chantix works. Good Luck! Keep the Quit!! catlover - See your MD and ask about Chantix. It's only available by prescription but it's well worth it. -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,756 Amount Saved: $341 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 7 Mins: 18 Seconds: 59

catlover, everyone is raving about Chantix, but whatever aid you choose -- patches, gum, inhalers, or pills -- you will not be able to quit unless you can overcome your fear of withdrawal and stop smoking. The secret to quitting is just this -- don't ever light another cigarette.
