Just to clarify, it'a a half marathon I'm training for. Thanks for the support. I feel like a wuss, since I'm a light smoker, but it gets me bad on day 3!!! New here, first day at this. I am not a heavy smoker, but still addicted. I smoked about 7 per day for 10 years minus pregnancies. I just started training for a hallf marathon and this is my motivation. In the last week I have stopped smoking for days and then I fold. The hardest part will be the fact that my husband smokes outside. I get really irritable and that just sucks. Glad to find you all to hopefully walk through this with me.

Kiwilee: Welcome! You're our third "Kiwi". We have KiwiKeith and Kiwi. Are you all related or what?? Anyway, happy to have you onboard and to help in any possible way we can. You may not smoke as much as some of us did (2+ packs a day for 35 years here), but the fact you're finding it tough to put down permanently shows your addiction. Learn all you can about your addiction so you can conquer it. Use the tools on this site -- look to the left and work the program. Post often and read a lot here -- you'll do it. If you can run a marathon, you can certainly do this! (I'm exhausted just typing the word marathon LOL)! Keep the faith My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 113 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,558 Amount Saved: $904 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 21 Mins: 39 Seconds: 40

Welcome. The workbook here is a great place to start. Get your meter running, I know it's a great motivator for me. When is your marathon? It sounds exciting. We have others here who deal with the challenge of spouses or other family smoking around them. There is great support here. Take some time to read old posts, they have great information (and it counts as non-smoking time). Welcome again. kiwilee, Welcome and what great motivation you have! It is great that your husband smokes outside, so let him know what you are doing and ask him for some support. We are always here and can help. By preparing for your quit you will find the progress through this journey rewarding. Keep busy and always have coping mechanisms on hand, post often and keep us updated :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
