the patch will not stay on

Day 8, the patch comes off almost every day (late 4 or 5 o'clock) The first few days I would put a fresh one on but as of Day 5, I just wait til the next morning. I still want to smoke with or with out the patch.. should I continue to use it or just go cold turkey and keep some of that nic gum around?? oodlechick, Try placing your hand over the patch for 10-15 sec. after first applying it. Warming it up a little will help it adhere to your skin. If you don't find the patches are helpful consult with your doctor about adding gum or using a higher dosed patch. He/she will be able to determine what option is best for you regarding your medical history. If you decide to go cold turkey make sure you have a plan for coping with cravings! You should choose what you think will work best for you. Check back soon, Danielle ______________________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi Oodlechick, Only thing I would add is, when you apply the patch, keep away from moving joints, and press the patch firmly onto the skin for approx. 15 seconds (if you're not doing this already) Take care Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 106 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,186 Amount Saved: 795 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 16 Mins: 59 Seconds: 13

Hello oodlechick, I guess thats really up to you. Im a cold turkey quiter and after the first week it hasn't been bad. I didn't use the gum or anything. If you think the gum will get you threw your cravings then I say go for it. If you havn't already find some other good coping skills. Like drinking lots of cold water, taking a nap or things like that. Let us know how your doing. We have all kinds of quiters around here and everyone used somthing different. You just need to find out what works best for you. I say go with what is best for you. I used patches and found that different brands had varying degrees of 'stickyness' so it might be worth changing if you decide to 'stick' with the patches!
