bonbons, Welcome to the site and congratulations on becoming an ex-smoker! It is great to hear that you are ready to quit! The question is are you prepared? Please take advantage of our free Online Treatment Program in your glove compartment as you log into our site. This program will first help you determine if youre ready to quit. If youve already quit and are looking for some help, this program is for you. Although the program will first assess if youre ready to quit the exercises at the beginning of the program will help remind you of the reasons why you quit in the first place. Dont get frustrated - ex-smokers have told us that the exercises at the beginning of the program gave them confidence and helped them reaffirm their personal commitment to remain smoke free. The exercises in this program are divided into six major milestones. Think of each milestone as a destination youre trying to reach. After you complete the exercises in each milestone, your car will progress along the road map located at the bottom left-hand side of the screen. The best thing about this program is that it is free and you dont have to purchase any products to use this program. We hope that we have guided you in the right direction today! Please feel free to contact our support department in our feedback section found at the bottom of this page if you continue to have any questions or concerns. Or, please continue to join us here at our online support group! We wish you all the best and look forward to helping you achieve your goals! Melanie _____________________ The SSC Support Team

Hello anyone and everyone. I am new to this program, new to this experience, and, believe me, I will need all the help and support I can get. I have been smoke free since 01-17-06 after 32 years. My brain and my body are having difficulty adjusting. The only other support group I have ever been involved with was a cancer support group, and I found such comfort and understanding there. I know this group will be just as helpful. So far, the craving for a cig is overwhelming at times, and downright unbearable at others. Someone please tell me this gets easier. Thanks, Bonbons

Hi bonbons. Welcome to a great site. You will find lots of helpful people with good advice. Make sure you check out the whole site. There is a lot of info. to use during the various stages of your quit. I am on day 20 and I never thought I would say that after 23 yrs of smoking. You can do this too if you really want it. Do you have good support at home? I do and it has been great. If not, you will get lots from here.redrosie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 471 Amount Saved: $157.7 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 21 Mins: 55 Seconds: 57

Hi Bonbons Good to meet you and congrats on your decision. Yes, it is hard at first, but I can promise you it will get better. So much of this quit has to do with your mind and how you see yourself. Try not to think of what you are missing and instead think of what you are gaining. I had smoked for 35 yrs. and was up to 2 packs a day. I never before had tried to quit, because I just knew I would fail. I had no doubt that I was addicted to nicotine and the thought of trying to quit scared me to death. Finally on Oct. 16 I was down to just a few cigs and was going to need to go out and buy another carton. For whatever reason, I just decided at that moment that I was through with smoking. Now this is coming from someone who was an avid smoker and had never even thought of quitting. I kept telling myself that I would just quit for one day. Well one day has turned into 95 and I can tell you now that I am so proud of what I've done. The folks here are great and will support you in your quit. Stay close to the site and post often. You can do this. Keep your quit. vicki just 1 puff away from 2 packs a day My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 95 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,825 Amount Saved: $665 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 0 Mins: 11 Seconds: 34

Hi, I am not as far along as Katy, but I can agree whole heartedly...YES it does get easier. And not to long from now you will wonder why you thought it couldn't be done. I thought that way for almost 40 years. And look at me fly! That first week was all about the physical addiction, and this next one will be more about the mental stuff. Keep yourself busy. Don't let your hands be idle. Find something that you can carry around and fiddle with when you get a craving. Come on back when you can... I'm here and I'm yelling it loud and clear.....YES THIS GETS EASIER!!!!!! It will finally seem 'natural' to no longer smoke!! honest.....it's the most wonderful sense of freedom you can imagine. Free from the clutches of that horrible, stinkin, deadly addiction. You are in the throes of 'hell week'. Just hang on....try to be especially good to yourself....lots of rest, eat well, have lots of healthy snacks to munch on, spend time soaking in bubble baths, reading, walking, etc.....any activity that seems to get you through not smoking. While the cravings can seem overwhelming,,,,,tell yourself that YOU are the one in control here...and you are NOT giving that control back!! Then reward yourself in some way....and do it often during these first few weeks. we fortunately live in the country and when I quit I would rage through the house yelling that I was NOT going to let the beast get the best of me....then I would go and stand in the shower till I looked like a prune.....then I put on lots of bath & body lotions (rewards) and wallowed in the fact that I could actually SMELL them!! I took walks when the weather permitted and I took some when it didn't! Hubby rolled his eyes a lot and the kids referred to me as Sybil. I cried often, yelled often, slept very little at first and too much later on, drug everything that wasn't nailed down to my mouth and devoured it, gained about 10 pounds(that's a lie too).....but the one thing I didn't do was light up!! I was angry....angry that a bunch of rolled up burning weeds had taken almost complete control of my life. I wanted it back....clean and free....I determined that I just had to TAKE IT BACK! I am here to tell you that you CAN do this,,,tough? yes....impossible? NO so you just tie a knot and hang on and from that rope you keep kickin butt!!
