I did experienced that and brushing and flossing just after waking up got rid of that. Check also for bleeding gums.

Rock-Congratulations!
Josie- Put out the announcement so we don't get another Bear incident...

Pookie,
The reason you are getting that yuck mouth is detoxification.  When you quit there are a lot of toxins that still need to come out and one of the ways is through your tongue.  It can look white or cream color and you see it in the morning because at night is when you detox.  Here is what I would do:

1) Eat lighter and healthier if possible.  This will allow for faster elimination of all the effects of smoking
2) Buy a tongue scraper and use it every morning.  I used to do this when I smoked because I had so much white on my tongue from detox that I was embarrased to see the dentist.  Now I have much pinker tongue and breath from quitting. It takes a month or two to see big differences.
3) Do some exercise everyday that involves sweating.  This will get the lymph moving and will lead to faster elimination of toxins.
4) You can use mouthwash or breath mints in the meantime until your body natually adjusts. All of this gets better over time.

Keep up the good work. Your already on your way to healing...

Pookie, I remember having yuck mouth.  I had a big bottle of mouthwash that I would use 3x a day to get rid of the taste.  Try that!  Brushing often and flossing also helped me.  I like those breath strips too!  Of course, I used to use them to hide my ashtry breath when I smoked.  When I quit, I used them to hide the remains of that yuck mouth!  Keep taking it one day at a time and you'll go far!

Continue the flossing, brushing and rinsing!

Try some sugar free gum or candy to minimize the yuck mouth and yes it will dwindle!

That will go away on its own. Yuck mouth is the right thing to call it. My family is so much happier without me breathing that foul odor on them and I have more confidence when I talk to them or customers at work.
Keep with it. The first day and week are the worst  but you CAN do it Pookie!!!
You should be proud of yourself.

Don't know what to tell you.  You may want to brush you teeth right away when you wake up.  I haven't had or notice that problem.  Sorry

Keep the Quit

How do you get rid of the yuck mouth?  I brush my teeth at night, I floss at night and gargle prior to going to bed.  When the urge for a smoke creeps up on my I brush my teeth.  But when I wake in the morning, I still have yuck mouth that tastes like cigarretts.  How do i make this go away?  Just the taste makes me want one.  Any suggestions would be great!
