Rain in California

17 years ago 0 738 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
It was a funny thing, but I walked out of work tonight and saw that it was raining. I had been INSIDE all night and didn't know. I'm sure there has never been a day in my life in the last 40 years that it rained AND I DIDN'T KNOW IT!!! Because of course, I was out there, huddled in the wind and cold and rain, burning dried leaves.... It's so strange, but I am so very happy to have not known it was raining, I feel so free and, well, happy. Are there other new experiences? Things that make you go, Aaha! Or hmmmmmm? Or feel odd? Just a thought in the wee hours of my Wednesday night. You know ParrotLady, it's funny you'd mention something like this! I actually smelled my coffee brewing this morning! The smell actually stopped me in my tracks, I stood in the kitchen breathing in the aroma and smiling like a big ole goon! It smelled like heaven on earth to me! I never realized that I wasn't "able to smell" while I was a smoker, and now I kind of wonder what else I've been missing for 26 smoke-filled years. BUT I'm on my way to finding out! I'm so excited! It's sort of like a baby discovering a whole new world! I get goosebumps just thinking about it! I know it sounds silly, but this is truly how I feel! Like I've been cheating myself out of the simplest pleasures in life for way too many years. And I totally like the feeling of empowerment that my quit has given me. Anybody else have these feelings? Or am I just a nut job? Life is good! I've been quitting using the patch. I have always taken it off in the morning and put a new one on in the afternoon. The last week, I have been forgetting to take it off..........WHICH MEANS....I don't wake up thinking about smoking! I had a haha moment yesterday, met an old friend, that I hadn't seen since I quit, we hugged and he said: you smell really good.....A couple of months ago I would have smoked and smelled of cigs.
