You Made It Jay

Jay, I remember the day a coworker came up to me, gave me a hug, and said I smelled good.  I told her that I had worn that same cologne before.  She said that it was the first time she could actually smell the cologne and not the smoke.  Didn't it feel good to actually smell the shampoo tonight?  Wait until you put on a freshly laundered shirt and you can smell the fabric softener!  Do you remember the old commercial tag line "Gee your hair smells terrific?"  That's you!!!  Congratulations!  And dark chocolate is a wonderful reward!  Good job!

Hey Jay,
That is so cool... shows you have a big heart that is full of love for your family.  You are doing such a good thing by quitting as you will have even more years to live and love.

I can relate to the money squeeze. I was starting to feel guilty about buying smokes when I added it up. Now, at least I'm not burning up the money on cigarettes!
Dark chocolate, eh??? You have many friends here! We seem to all be on a chocolate kick.
lol!
That is a great reward! perfect!

Take it easy and I'm sticking here in your cheering section!

My reward is the extra money my wife can put on bills.  I used to haul specialized and made a real good income and had alot of debt but could easily pay it.  But after the last couple of years with the high fuel prices and now the economy being bad I'm just glad to still be in business and paying down the debt is the only way to stay that way.

My current wife we have only been together for 8 years.  My first is passed, her husband was killed in a work related accident many years ago when her kids were real young she never remarried until she met me.  We both raised 3 kids of our own before we met all grown and we both have grand kids.

We adopted one of her granddaughters that was in foster care as the parents couldn't take care of her she was considered a child in need.  Now she is doing good in school.  When I'm home I take her everywhere with me even to the auto parts store.
When I told my family that I was going to adopt her they said you raised your kids now is the time for you.  I don't regret adopting her she is my baby and one of the reasons I never smoked in the house she is alergic to smoke.  That's one of the reasons I want to quit.

I do give myself dark chocolate candy bars that I love but don't usually buy.

Another reward was unplanned I took a shower tonight and for the first time I could actually smell my shampoo never knew it smelled good lol.  I said to myself wow this reallly smells good.

Jay,
Isn't that the truth?

I used to be able to quit on my own... several times in my life but
this site has taught me how to stay quit.

Keep with the program! Be sure to set up your rewards. Really.  It's no bull, you brain needs rewards right now! It needs to build up it's own reward cells.  Buy yourself a new cd or something cool with the money you've saved. I bought a new commuter cup at the end of my 30days ( I was already three weeks in when I found this place)  and I don't think I'll ever forget that great feeling of being so proud of my acheivement.   That commuter cup will go with me to my grave. haha. Seriously... it's like a trophy! Whatever you choose for your reward will always remind you of your success and keep you going!

You are doing great! Heck week will be over soon enough.

Best,
HP

Jay,

Many members have found the Alan Carr book very useful in their quit!

It also sounds like a great idea to re-read it every few months.

How do you plan on rewarding yourself for this achievement?

Henny Penny the only way I know anything is from this site and what I learn from you all.  My wife told me she ordered Alan Carr's book for me.  I told her thanks I should have over 30 days smoke free by then but still plan to read it I think it can help keep the quit going.  Told her I will probably read it every few months for reinforcement.  She said she will probably read it also.

She has a niece that has a daughter that wants to quit I told her to have her come to ssc don't know if she has or will but hope so.
