Hi Sheller, Congratulations! It's obvious that you don't spend much of the time thinking about cigs now... but do you still, when and how often? This sort of information is invaluable to those of us whose quits are 'younger' thanks, Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 325 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,770 Amount Saved: 2437.5 Life Gained: Days: 53 Hrs: 1 Mins: 48 Seconds: 52

Sheller what an inspiring post. I made it one year one time and thought "oh I can maybe just smoke one" WRONG! One is never enough. Hang in there and keep up the good work. Have a wonderful trip. No I'm not a search engine. IT'S BEEN ONE WHOLE YEAR!! That's right folks, I've been through every season, celebration, routine and didn't smoke. Hey, guess what I LIVED, and I'm feeling pretty darned proud of myself. I can look at my kids and not feel like a hypocrite telling them not to smoke. I don't spend every minute wondering when I'll have my next cigarette. I have never accomplished anything that took more effort. I know it's never over but it's just no where near as hard. HEY ALL YOU ASHKICKERS, LET'S HERE SOME NOISE!! Doesn't matter if you slipped and had to start again.. you're here now. I'm so proud of myself and all of you for working this hard. My reward? you ask. My husband is taking me away for a weekend to somewhere warm (I live in Canada, this is a big deal) and the nice thing is, I'm the one who is really paying for it since I didn't set fire to all that cash (see stats below) Thanks to all and keep up the good fight! Hey Mr. Ed, You are almost there! I think about cigarettes and every once in a while I even have a craving. It's impossible not to think about them when you see people around smoking. The cravings are really, really mild now. Not even close to the ones in the first few months. It's more like a memory... and "oh ya.. I used to to that" or it will be an automatic thought, like if you haven't been in a particular bar in a long time that you used to smoke in. It's completely manageable now and this is coming from a habitual whiner! I think a lot of us that smoke are depressed and use smoking to lift our mood (there is research to this effect), holding on to the pride and rewards of not smoking is imperative. When I quit I kept thinking I was a loser and there was no way I would stay quit so I might as well start again. HAAAA!! Huge nicodemon slapdown on that one. Any newbies, take heart. It is an awful place you are in now but you can do it and end up here in a happy, happy place not being a slave to a burning bunch of weeds! I know you can do it!
