Great job Msparkyace! We are not too far apart on our quit journey. I've read some of your post and I feel like I'm in a line right behind you and experiencing similar difficulties. Hope it gets easier for both of us and great job. No cigarettes for a week now. It gets better every day. The real cravings get farther and farther between. Mostly it's the habit part of picking up a cigarette that is still with me. The phone rings... I reach for one, after meals.... go to get one. I'm sure that will be with me for awhile but already I don't have a dreadful feeling when I realize I'm not having that habitual smoke. Already I notice my breathing improving. I have no phlegm anymore and when I woke up in the morning it was a constant cough to try and clear it all away. I even have lost the stains on my fingernails. I smoked 2 - 2 1/2 packs a day. I always bought my smokes by the carton and always had a carton on hand and never really figured out what it cost me to smoke weekly. When I see $91 for the week.. OMG what a jerk was I !! Not smoking is having a huge impact on my life and a very positive impact. And best of all I'm proud of myself. I WILL NOT SMOKE AGAIN! MOST EXCELLENT!! No, you are not a jerk!! We have been blinded by the smoke fog and the constant lies as well as the fake glamour in front of the reality of smoking. In fact, showing us and yourself your 7 days, you so ROCK!! PLUS at the 1 month mark, you have saved 400 bucks!! WOW!! Imagine that!! Take the 100 bucks and put it into your savings!! And jsut think, you will have enough money saved to go on a cruise!! YIPPPEEE!!! Great going! Congratulations on surviving Hell week! I was a 3 pack a day smoker myself and I had smoked for 34 years (noticed the 'had', as in past-tense). The habit of reaching for them is the toughest part! You are doing so well, keep it up! :) ps I read your post in my old timers thread. Thanks. I think NOPE is the only way for me as well. Whenever I have slipped or relapsed it was ALWAYS 'just one won't hurt...' Yeah, right! Fantastic job on your first week! It gets better everyday, you said it yourself. Keep up the great job! When you answer the phone try twirling a pen around. :) CobenFan My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 198 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,382 Amount Saved: $693 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 9 Mins: 49 Seconds: 51
