Good venting and realization Paula!

Keep finding and fighting those triggers, they will become less and less and your days smoke free, will be more and more!  Nothing like good ole' stew to keep your spirits up!

Ok, I'm much calmer now! I lay down for half an hour and listened to a relaxation tape. I called up to my nan for some yummy irish stew, my nan and my great aunt smoke so much and you would never really see them without a cig in their hand. I can't avoid my nan during my quit, not even for a few days so I had an idea and I let the dog jump into the back seat of the car and I arrived up there with my dog in tow which proved to be a great idea. Honey (dog) was a distraction and I found that it felt supportive to have her there and I didn't think of cigs that much while I was there. I told my nan that I had a bad day and I was feeling a bit stressed and it helped even just to talk about it so I'm home now and its nearly bedtime! I'm glad that I have these days behind me now so I know that although they are tough, they are do-able!

I've been on and off this site for about 2-3 years and I've seen so many threads called aaarrrgghh, and I never got it till today! That was the only word I could find to describe how I was feeling, you'd see it in movies where the guy/girl runs to the top of a mountain  in the pouring rain and just screams at the top of their lungs. If I could have, I would have today!

I understand now what triggered this today, I did two exams in May and the results were due out today, one exam I thought I had failed, I passed by 4 per cent, I'm so jammy! But the other that I thought I did really well in, has been lost, and I might have to sit it again. I know thats annoying but its not the end of the world however, I completely link smoking and studying. Its a trigger that I have come across before and I need to start dealing with because I'm going to have more exams in autumn. But I know now, and I am aware, so I can prepare myself for it.

Thanks for all the support, it is really good to have a rant when you feel awful and then come back a while later feeling better and have all these messages of encouragement! Cece I'm glad to see you back and I'm sorry to hear you are having an aaarrrgghhh time as well but by the sounds of things, its all part of the fun!

Talk to ya all later!!

Paula

Paula,
I'm back, been gone on a big work project, and I too have been so annoyed. I worked with someone I really like and he smokes, I didn't have the craving so much (except for adult libations later) but I really had no patience or tolerance. I was really stressed, and felt like I wasn't handling things as well as I should have, it was the addiction making me awful.
I don't think they'll find the bodies, but I have been feeling the same way you describe.
  Not fit for public consumption.

Hang in, paula. Yer Mammy told you there'd be days like this... you met them before and you've cp,me through so well... stay strong and keep fighting... be nice to yourself - go for a massage,  take another hot bath...drink your water with a few cubes of ice in the glass... you're so young that you haven't done any real damage to your lungs... you'll come out of this with "like-new" lungs!!

i have had many of these days.   they pass, really, they pass.  when you are going through the arrrrggggghnhh moments it seems like the only thing in life is not smoking...you ask yourself why you started this whole mess (smoking and then - not smoking) everyone gets on your nerves...you can't imagine how the future looks without cigarettes in them - i used to wonder how i'm going to read a book, have a glass of wine, get through stress - open mail - without a cigarette.  then, all of a sudden - you  get through an hour, a day, a week and realize that you not only survived - but you feel better - look better - smell better and will live longer.  i still slam doors - i still cry - i still remind my friends and family "this would be a cigarette moment" and it makes them realize 'where i am' and that i am asking for a bit of support...usually the response has been "oh, right, i forgot..you are doing such a great job" and the thought of 'caving in and smoking' goes away.  it isn't easy - in fact, this is one of the most difficult things you will ever do...be proud of each hour you have lived without a cigarette.  and then go for a walk...rent a movie...visit a pet store...walk on grass in your bare feet...and most important - congratulate yourself on every non smoking moment.   Good luck - we are all behind you!

ICL,

These days happen! Take it easy, try doing another kind of exercise to get some of your frustration out, taking a warm calming bath may also be nice. Think of the coping strategies you used at the beginning of your quit and put them into good use again. Reading, cleaning, sleeping, cooking are all great activities to keep you distracted.

Stay strong.

It will go away.... promise, just a bad day as in life in general, good days, bad days, how about a nice bubble bath with candles all around and a bit of meditation, I took so many bubble baths I felt like a dried prune.... It will get better one day at a time

I am so annoyed today. I have been grinding my teeth all day. Deep breaths aren't working, the rain is pouring down so I'm not going for a walk. I feel so tense and stressed and irritated and I'm glad that I'm alone in the house at the moment because I'd probably bite the head off someone for something stupid. Craves are coming in waves (that rhymes!) and I just feel so fed up and frustrated. Nothing happened to trigger this pure annoyance and irritation, I just woke up like this and things that wouldn't normally annoy me just did today. Now, I just want to cry! Aaaarggghhhh
