Ol' Nic is very, very cleaver. He's giving it a really good try today - "if i was smoking, i would not be like this today". cleaver. I'm bet'n that like you said, nothing is wrong in your environment or life. Nic is mess'n with you. I recommend centering. Get back to the basics - why is this important and/or using coping mechanism w/o the mind games of trying to figure out anything. This will pass if you let it. Further, I would suggest taking on some new aspect in your role as a non-smoker. You deserve it and it would send Nic a clear message. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 54 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 545 Amount Saved: $270 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 4 Mins: 15 Seconds: 13

mercy, only go out there if you are truly confident, beyond a doubt, which i question after your post today. make sure this is not a trick of Nic's. You don't have to prove anything to anybody. You're winning already. Weather change is a HUGE trigger, and I'm with everyone else who fears the warm weather -- I'm a Southern California native now living in crappy, snowy, icy Virginia, and thse double-digit temps suddenly feel like summer! Makes me want to go outside, cut grass, do yard work, wash cars -- then of course, kick back with a cigarette and a beer when it's all finished. Vigilance, vigilance, vigilance. Not gonna happen this year. Not gonna happen any year, ever again. peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 115 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,769 Amount Saved: $632.5 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 1 Mins: 42 Seconds: 50

Mercy, There really is hope for this!!!! I climbed out of the 30 day pit over a week ago and I'm feeling really upbeat right now. The 30 day pit led me to crave endlessly, led me to be extremely irritable etc. So for those 3-4 days I layed low, watched TV, indulged myself, went to bed early when I needed to. This really is temporary, and I think its nicodemon's last ditch attempt to win you over once more! You don't need that miserable little nuisance in your life. Keep telling yourself the 30 pit does end. And it does, I'm proof of that! Thinking of you, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,214 Amount Saved: $360 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 13 Mins: 10 Seconds: 41

Hey Mercy; DON'T SMOKE - it won't help. Every so often I hit a day when I think (or can't stop thinking about) how just one would help. Like it would stop the edginess or anger or just "give me a break"! What I find is, I'm under stress (even from good things in my life)and haven't taken good care of myself - either I stayed up too late & am tired or I haven't eaten healthy food ON schedule. Or I've isolated and not talked to family & friends about what is going on in my life. I get caught up in my head & suddenly, after days or weeks of not craving, start thinking that smoking is the answer. It isn't. So I tough it out that day, I immediately post or read or call a friend who understands what quitting smoking is all about. I start back on making sure I get enough rest, eat on schedule (and cut out the junk food, especially the sugar which many times is a trigger for me) and exercise. And I talk about the fact that I am not "Super Ex-Smoker" and occassionally get insane thoughts about the fact that I quit. I don't think timeline in the quit matters so much in my experience, when I don't pay attention to taking good care of myself even 'life changes' that I LIKE, bring on stress and trigger emotions that start telling me crazy things, like smoking helps. It doesn't - - it passes and I go on to many more days, even weeks without a thought of it. I found the anger I experienced was simply frustration at the quit. Again, thinking I am Super Ex-Smoker and bullets should bounce off of me. I just human and this feeling (anger, sorrow, discontent, etc) today will pass. And the time between these "off" days gets further & further apart. N.O.P.E. Ericon P.S. Keep posting, it helps! Hmmmmm - 31 days on the meter, I see. Sounds like the 30 day pit, and you know what...I just went through it and I survived. What you are feeling is reported by a lot of people around this time. It will get better. You may have lots to do, but the MOST important is your quit. So do what needs doing, then climb in bed, have a hot bath, pampering 101. Sounds like you could do with a nice reward - flowers, incense, long walk... Nicodemon is putting up a fight with some sweet talking. DON'T LISTEN. Turn off the tape in your head. Concentrate on breathing... and yell and scream at him. This won't be the first time he rears his ugly head for a fight. Get your guns in order. We got your back. mercy, Are you doing okay now? How did you push the crave away? If you can, as suggested, take the day to yourself and nap or have a relaxing session before bed. Congrats on 31 days, this is great! Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
