question for Misty

I signed up in the HWC, Sylvie, and Misty and Bonnie, I bought 100 packets of Stevia for teas and cereals and i'll let you know how I get along with it tomorrow morning right after I've had my first cup of Irish Breakfast ( yes, I'm taking in a little caffeine again because I love the taste of the IB tea...) I want to make lemonade and maybe grapefruitade and peppermint teas to put in the fridge for the Summer cool-drinks-time: lemon teas and maybe get a gas-injector to fizz them up? Is that possible? I'm clueless about where to go to get such a thing but I love and will miss fizzy drinks if i can't make them myself... I remember so-called "siphons" of soda water when I was a kid that my parents used to shoot into their brandies and whiskys but I want to stay away from sodium also since I have the HBP problem (I love salt...dayuuuummmmmmm). I'm starting on an other programme to see if I have enough discipline to follow that programme... maybe I'll look into the sister site also here... ( Have I over-committed myself again, Your Honour...?) I need to lose 50 lbs at least to ease the strain on my joints ( I'm 252 now). I like stevia - it does seem to be a bit of an aquired taste. I use it to make my own chocolate syrup, and I also use it to sweeten my tea. What kinds of drinks are you going to make? DL, Stevia seems to be the choice for you then! It has no calories and has a negligible effect on blood sugar. Keep us posted on its taste and any positive or negative side effects that it may have. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

Thanks Brenna, but i haven't used refined table sugar for yonks. I've been using Splenda (sucrose) but I want to get away from anything that's been processed to death including it and aspartame and so I want this Stevia which is completely benign (if i hear properly) and is powerful in tiny doses... I want to make my own drinks. By the way, I don't like honey or maple syrup to taste in hot drinks but I do have a massive sweet tooth so I want to stay away from even natural sugars like you list... Until I can learn a little moderation in the sweetness factor I want to use this stevia which is sugar-free... I'll let you know how it goes and thanks again for your input... DL, There are many natural sweeteners that you could use in the place of refined sugar. Try pure maple syrup, molasses, stevia, agave nectar, Rapadura (dehydrated cane sugar juice) or raw unfiltered honey. These are all great alternatives. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

That's it! Thanks, Bonnie. My sister and I agreed to clean up our "sugar" acts together and I want to tell my wife about it too...in the meantime I'll share a tub of stevia with my sister and solve the toxic aspartame/acesulfame-potassium problem by making my own sugarless drinks!! Misty... what was the name of the sweetener you mentioned that has NOTHING to do with sugar or chemicals? Comes from a South American bush... I googled it when you mentioned it a while ago and now i can't find it and I didn't bookmark it?
