MammaD, I stuck really close to the boards the first year. It really does help. I take it that you have your quit kit together: sugar-free gum and candy, ice water... You might want to try exercising or taking up some other type of hobby and just sitting and meditating sometimes. You're  right: quitting smoking is exhausting. That is why I only wanted to make one attempt the last time. I knew from experience that it would be months, if not years between attempts, because that's how long it takes me to recover from the last one. The bottom line is that I just got sick and tired of being sick and tired and said, If not now, then when? Along the way, you will get a second and third wind. The cravings do let up and get farther and farther apart. You can do this.

Great strategies!  Look to us for support, use the IM Messenger to connect with others and start making a list of coping mechanisms and avoidance techniques.  if you have everything on hand, it will be easier to choose something to help you.

Taking deep breaths and getting out of house.  I was able to go for a walk which helped clear my head.  I remember now all the agony and ups and downs of the first week.  I am feeling worn out but I refuse to cave in.  Just taking each hour at a time.  Soon I will  getting my dinner ready which will occupy my hands and my time.  After dinner on planning on coming right back here.
