Normal and normal! Headaches and coughing are very common! Of course if it is still happening in three weeks or is getting worse then maybe see a Doc! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 122 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,050 Amount Saved: $1,287.10 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 23 Mins: 21 Seconds: 37

Seamus, Headaches have been known to be from the extra oxygen your brain is now receiving. You may also experience some light headedness and foggy brain function. Some people say enjoy it. It's a free high.. LOL Your cough is your lungs getting a chance to clear out. Nicotine paralysis your lungs and they never really get a chance to clear out like they should. Most of the things you will notice are part of the quit. If anything is worrisome I would say to call your doctor. Seamus, Many quitters do experience these symptoms shortly after quitting. Headaches are primarily caused due to an increase in circulation. Your cough is your lungs way of healing themselves. For the headaches, you can try a cold shower or some relaxation techniques. If your symptoms persist or worsen, see your doctor. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

It's normal, Seamus. A lot of us had headaches for a few days, even a couple of weeks. I didn't have the cough myself but others did. You're doing great, hang in. The first 3 days are the worst & you're more than 1/2 way there. You're going to feel noticably better by the end of the week, I promise. You're doing it!!! I am in day 2 of my quit, and I have noticed I have been getting a lot of headaches and have been coughing since I quit. Is this normal? Is it all a part of clearing the nicotine out?
