Hi - on day 29

Hi, anyone out there. I've just been reading Liz's thread 'fear' - wow, I know we all feel for her. I didn't feel I could add anything to the brilliant support she's getting already. Just thought I'd let anyone know who's interested. I've celebrated my one month anniversary by booking a dye job and a haircut = part of the new, in control me. I'm promising myself a really special treat for my one year anniversary and just staying really positive. Now that i'm an EX smoker, I allow myself to go to those 'horrible' websites I avoided as a smoker - YOU know the ones, with pictures of smoker's lungs and horror stories about smoking. You lot are the carrot, they're the stick, and together they help me to stay strong. Thanks, all you posters out there. Thanks for replying, folks. It's just such a comfort knowing that lots of people are going through the same stuff. I've been reading old threads, and there's lots of useful input there.

Hi. I've stopped because I kept getting bronchitis and then just feeling low. I'm trying hard not to stuff myself with BAD GREEDY THINGS, but it's not easy. How long do the mouth ulcers last, anyone ? They're rather alarming. Never mind, it's nice not to belong to the 'lepers' standing outside pubs or restaurants in the pouring rain and wind, because they're in the thrall of their addiction.... there but for the grace of God.... and a nicotine patch.... go I. By the way, my doctor took me off the stage one patches because of the sleeplessness, and put me straight onto the stage three, so I feel a bit antsy now and then, but I'm toughing it out as best I can. Tried the nicotine gum, but it gave me raging indigestion and a burny mouth. Ho hum... Welcome Bernini, Congrats on your 29 days...that's fantastic. If we starting writing a book about quitting smoking, we could name the book, "The Good, The Bad and the Down Right Ugly". In your post, you listed all of them. As time goes on, I'm sure the bad and the ugly slowly disappear, and the good is triumphant. I'm pretty sure your ansy because of the reduced nicoteen in your patch. Give it a day or two and that should subside. Welcome to the group!!!! I still read threads, even 3 weeks into my quit. I find that it helps to reinforce my reasons for quitting nicoteen, and makes me stronger when I crave it. The words in these threads spill through my mind and get me to the next day of being smoke free. One day at a time is all we need!!
