I made it through day three

18 years ago 0 10 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I did it!!! I made it through day three and am now on four. My husband threw out his cigerettes before he came home last night and is quitting with me. I was secretly angry with him for doing this, I think I wanted an excuse to smoke. But I feel good today, and am glad I didn't give in yesterday when I wanted one so badly. that's great! Like Katy said, though - your quit is yours and his is his. But it sure will be helpful if you both quit at the same time. Three days is huge. Hi Robyn I see you did make it through 3 days. That is 24 hours x 3 = 72 of some of the hardest hours. I found when I was having craves that were hard to manage, i just went to bed sometime at 6 pm. I would tune to a radio talk show that I liked, and just listen until i nodded out. Maybe that could be a coping tool for you the first week or so. It does get easier, believe it.

My husband and I quit on the same day. It is great to be a non smoking couple. Our relationship has grown so much. Robyn, Congratulations on day three! That's wonderful that your husband is jumping on the quit wagon but remember your quits are your own. If he falls off, doesn't mean your allowed to. :) Be sure to keep up with your rewards. Hell week is almost over! Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

That is great. My husband did the same thing for me over three years ago. He has remained smoke free, but I didn't. Not saying this will happen to you. I hope that you two will maked this journey toether. My sister and her husband quit together and remained quit together. What has kept me quitting is this site and the people here. I wish you luck and hope to see your posts often. Each day that you don't give in is a large victory for you and a big defeat for nicidemon. Want to tell you a story Robyn. Back in October, I quit. 5 days later, I smoked and made it my husbands fault, cause he had not quit. I told him so. Then he set a quit date. I decided to quit then too. I made it 5 days. He has not smoked since his quit date, and I can tell you that has put a tremendous amount of pressure on me. Why? Because my excuse was gone. It has been a good thing though, because I have quit and feeling good about it now. And he has quit - never thought he could do it. he was out to prove me wrong and he did. What I now have to be careful of is if he slips, that I do not allow that to be an excuse for me to go back to smoking - I've used that one before too. This quit is for you Robyn. Really think about that - WOW - not too often we get to be so selfish and do something just for ourselves. You are doing a great job so far. Keep going. I'm with you. Go girl Go.....but don't let "your" quit hang on your hubby's quit. Stick close to this site and ask any and all questions....remember that smoking is NOT one of your options.....when the demon comes calling, come here!
