As the New Year approaches let us all try to give back some of what we received when we first came here.
Let's try to turn their negatives to positives and their fears to faith.

Like I said,
"You never know, we may actually help save someone's life."
There is no greater feeling in the world than to know that you have actually helped someone and made a difference in someone's life. Many dark days I held on to that thought. Many times I felt guilty for not being here. The days aren't so dark anymore. I still believe the good Lord brought us together for a reason. You guys helped me much more than I ever helped you. Thank You.
Most of all, thank you for staying quit. I think you are amazing and possess a great deal of strength. Now where is Cuddles? Maybe the new year will bring her around too.
Happy New Year everyone. I just love you guys!

Hey Penquin I think we had the same "lady". If it had not been for her and a couple others I would not be here. That "lady" just put out what I needed, I don't remember what it was but I do know I just wanted to get quit once in for all for myself and for her. She put a lot of energy into my quit and a lot of others. Thank you special "lady" and you know who you are.
So I try and help when I can. One never knows what they put out there that may help someone.
So newbies, welcome and come and enjoy the ride of your life :eg:
Keep the Quit

Thanks for the reminder Lady.
I just looked up my introductory thread, and this is what I found

day 5...every hour is an accomplishment. Im using this site as a major support...every time I get an urge that is strong. I read through posts.....reminds me what to do.

A good reminder of how much this site can help new quitters get through those first hours and days.

As being pretty much a "newbie" myself, I know that if it wasn't for the caring the "old timers" had shown early on in my quit, as well as my quit buddies, I would probably have left the site and continued smoking.
I'm ready to help and do whatever is necessary to get the New Year Res non-smokers on track, and onto the quit train.

I was thinking the same thing, Penguin. When I first came to this site and posted four hours into my quit, it made SO much of a difference for me to see all the responses. It gave me encouragement, strength and motivation. I still don't know if I would have made it w/o this site and all it's tools. That includes the support group.
Let's see how many quitters we can help this year!

Well on the one hand, I'm with bear. I have some difficulty with newbies too.
BUT
I was a newbie once, and if it wasn't for a special 'LADY' answering one of my posts and giving me a boost by telling me 'I could do it', I probably would not be here today, and quit.
Tough love or soft love - it works!!!!
