Quitting smoking is quite an experience. It is a trip that leads us to self discovery and allows us to set expectations that we never thought possible. All of us have thought those words.. "I would love to quit smoking but....."
No matter what your "but" is doesn't matter. Until you begin to live the quit, you don't have any idea how possible quitting really is. Every excuse in the book can be used to justify the "why" we cannot quit. It is when we have had enough of the coughing, the social outcast, the fear of cancer or other smoking related illness, the embarrasement, the enslavement of smoking - when we have had enough of these things, I mean REALLY had enough, we are ready to begin to experience the quit journey.
I must admit, I NEVER thought I would actually quit and stay quit. Now I'm looking at day 900 of my quit journey and I just can't believe the changes and the person I have become. I have a peace, joy, happiness, love, and gratitude in my life that I never knew existed. I am FREE of the enslavement of smoking and there is no greater feeling in the world.
I have often said quitting is a soul searching, life changing experience, enjoy it. You will be amazed at where the journey may lead you if you allow it.
During the rough times, hang on tight and lean on other quitters. Life is short enough as it is. Don't cut it shorter for an addiction that just wants to control you until it kills you.
Quitting is so possible. It has been an adventure to realize my imposible dream of quitting. Go ahead, get the experience. YOU are in control!
