Exploring The Possabiltys

I always thought it was funny when others said the way they did things was the best way for everyone to do things. I never took those sort of comments or suggestions seriously. If there were no question on whether it was right then you wouldn't have to sell it, people would just buy it. But, you have to be ready to quit or you can't see the benefits of quitting. It's like the story of Peter Pan and Neverland. Unless you're ready to quit, it all sounds like rubbish. I asked my husband on day 3 of my quit if he was surprised that I just stopped smoking. He said " you always told me you were going to quit, when you wanted to quit." When I was smoking nobody could have "suggested" I quit because I had a million excuses not to. Smoking is a very personal thing and we all did it for different reasons. Seems like whenever I talk to a smoker and mention that I quit they invariably say "Yeah,I should quit too." I don't have to tell them, they already know, we all already knew that, yes, we should quit. I just saw an ex brother in law who dealt successfully with throat cancer last year. He's smoking again. Might not be so successful next time. I didn't even mention to him that I had quit. When I shook his hand and said goodbye I knew it might be for the last time. You can sure see more clearly when you aren't under the influence. I wouldn't go up to a 'never smoker' & tell them to start smoking & so applies to smokers I leave well enough alone, they feel crap enough as it is ! Bear, I have to tell you I agree with the others I would have to tell the person to stick it where the sun don't shine. We each quit in our own way and our own time that is why it is our own quit. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 183 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,660 Amount Saved: $1,189.50 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 21 Mins: 45 Seconds: 29

How about just saying... "I wish you knew both sides of the fence like I do?....obviously it's better on this side or I'd be smoking." Bear, something like this happened to me just recently, only it was my good friend & one-time quit buddy, not just "somebody". I noticed her facebook status said, "Teresa is sick & tired of coughing and being sick & tired." I left her a message, "Maybe Teresa should quit smoking with the coughing and the sick & tired." I got a message, "Up yours, ex-smokers are the biggest FN PITA's". This was my FRIEND!! I imagine if someone she loved less had said that, they would be walking a little funny. What with that boot up their butt & all... Bear, If I was smoking and some ex smoker comes up to me and tells me I should quit, I would tell you what I told them all. "I'll quit when I am damn good and ready!" You should know that. It's Ok. You're thinking like an ex smoker, good for you. I am an ex smoker too, but I heard that question too many times in my life, so I remember how much it used to tick me off! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 199 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,975 Amount Saved: $2,099.45 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 8 Mins: 48 Seconds: 32
