John, seems to me they should be promoting Cigarettes. :8o: lets face it Tobacco is here to stay & there is nothing any of us can do about that. We can however choose to not smoke & it's this, my non-smoking friends is what makes the countries we live in so great..... the FREEDOM to have CHOICE ! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 980 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 34,300 Amount Saved: $6,370.00 Life Gained: Days: 140 Hrs: 2 Mins: 35 Seconds: 15

I'm not so sure that human beings have ever in the history of the world come before profits. Human beings have to have the sense to not smoke and they will not become a part of at least that nasty little circle. I'm counting my blessings and being thankful each day that I am getting farther and farther from my last cigarette. IT will take some time, but yes it will come....the year 2050 or so maybe...yes Bear I do wonder what kind of world my Grandson will have to live in when he is 35. But the almighty dollar still runs the world now, the greed frightens me. :) We as a country have lost our prospective of people first. Human beings should come before profits. There may come a day in the future when enough young people don't start and enough old people just stop that tobacco revenues will shrink. That will be a wonderful day! Somehow the lure of smoking, the odd need to be seen smoking by kids who want to look "grownup" just keeps this ball rolling. Can't do that Aloha, too much money to be made in tobacco. If everyone quits smoking then there will be: Loss of jobs for "migrant workers" Loss of revenue for Hospitals Loss of revenue for lab techs Loss of revenue for Surgery Loss of TAX revenue The list goes on... There is a lot of money to be made by prolonging the problem by keeping people poisoned and adicted. Above are just some of who benefit from it. Afterall this is how cigarettes came to be in the first place isn't it? On a bright note, I found this and am thinking it is you. Aloha There is just far to much money involved for governments to even think about programs to slow down smoking, drinking or any other vices us poor mortals engage in.And heres another one for you ,war is profitable,so as long as somebody can turn a dollar the young people in your country and ours will be fighting in countrys we have no reason to be their.I,m sorry to say that I live in this society from time to time but I worry more for my 5 grandchildren who are going to have much bigger problems to overcome than you and I can even imagine !!! well, if all these states would put their money into smoking cessation, maybe there'd be faster progress on that front, Lainey. Problem is, the tobacco companies are now targeting African countries....sheesh..what scumbags My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 170 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,800 Amount Saved: $1,156.00 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 16 Mins: 20 Seconds: 40
