Reflections on Not Smoking

Blue - I am so glad it helped. Overwhelmed by emotion I get - I cried so much in the first six months, my keyboard nearly floated away. And yes, I like you, always blamed someone else for my failed quits. In my case, it was my husband. He just didn't understand, I would say. I would make him promise to be supportive, but when I turned into the b**** from hell each time, and he would lose patience, I used this over and over again as an excuse to start again. This last (and final) time - he got so exasperated with me, that in the middle of a heated argument, he told me to go outside on the porch and smoke! (He of course felt terrible later - he had always wanted me to stop) But, You know what? It didn't matter how he felt! I DIDN'T go outside and smoke!!! I finally had decided that no person and no thing was going to make me smoke again. It took that level of commitment for me to succeed. I wish you the best. You are on the right track. Fifteen days is still deep in the woods, but each and every day gets easier, and I promise you that some day this obsession will go away and your equilibrium will return and you will wonder what in the heck took you so long. The freedom is delicious!! Best wishes!! Luna, Thank you so much for re-posting. I am on day 15 and found your post just at the right time to reinforce my quit. I feel over whelmed by emotion. I also am very proud of the 15 smoke free days I have behind me.The part about this being MY quit really hit home with me. I have been trying to blame my past failures on someone else without realizing no one can take my quit away but me.
