Oh memories indeed !! They say (?) that we revert to the people we were - at the emotional age we were - at the time we first started to smoke. Sooooo, welcome to my age 14 teenage tantrums, chaps!!!!! Coming out of it all now though (horrah)some 8.5 months later. But yes, memories are spooky when you haven't thought of a thing for a while (like 45 years). Colours(UK)are memory-spooky too, as are smells and sounds. Its a bit like that film thingy, where the characters awoke after being in a coma for years. I feel I've actually gained 45 years, because I was semi-comatose all that time and now I have "real time", so I can "do" it all again properly!! Spooky !!! Ozzgran

Well, Phil... You made me curious so I did a couple of quick searches. Smoking definitely causes memory and cognitive impairment (keywords: smoking and memory loss). "...normal or healthy smokers, healthy in terms of having no psychiatric disturbance, actually had an improvement in spatial cognitive function when they quit smoking." (keywords: smoking and memory). I'd say it's possible that your memory function could improve after you quit. I learn something new every day :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 629 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,588 Amount Saved: $2245.53 Life Gained: Days: 66 Hrs: 15 Mins: 25 Seconds: 29

Hmm... Maybe more time to think? Or maybe the fact that our brains are getting more blood and oxygen now? I know that alcohol can actually kill brain cells... wonder if smoking did the same and if those cells can rejuvenate? Interesting question, Phil My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/2/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 629 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,588 Amount Saved: $2245.53 Life Gained: Days: 66 Hrs: 15 Mins: 23 Seconds: 58

Phil, We all are aware that our bodies are different and will react differently to the quit. This is a great topic and we would like to hear more of the members feedback. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
